Welcome! :) On this blog you will find stories, how i play and videos created with The Sims 4, but also a few projects from older game versions can be found in the Archive. The old TS3 stories have their own blogs. Most long going stories have a main page with index of updates.

Check out Simmerville's Youtube channel!

I'm no longer on Tumblr! I refused to give all their 3rd parties unlimited access to my computer. Link still works, but no updates.

The Five Units Challenge - Report #7 - Skill Pondering

Days are very different now that 3 of the 4 children have started school. They take even better care of themselves, and the parenting is more about assisting with skill building and manners than to handle basic care. My challenge has worked well this far, but it's only just started...

Twins Rudolph and Sammy are out playing with a kid that Rudolph met in school, Clara Adrian who lives at Oasis Springs. Fiona is also with them playing, over there by the pirate ship.

This is such a cool park asset when your household have many same aged siblings! It's also a good place to meet other kids.

I mentioned taking the family to a restaurant, but that weekend got packed. Tonight is better, and they traveled to a place in Newcrest, the hood next to their own. It's simple and rustic, but spacious with tables both inside and out in the yard. Traveling went well except Donna being sent to daycare...

I was a bit excited to see how 5 guests would be seated, because this place offers no large tables. And I was impressed with the way this was solved, was it random or intentional? Tables next to each other worked fine, and kids got grouped without my directions.

Kids got to color drawings while waiting. I read about placemats in Parenthood GP, but had no idea this would include drawings at restaurants. After the burger meal, they were allowed to bring their drawings back home - cute :) Note that the drawing can be picked up even if the work was hardly started, it's possible to complete the task at home.

Sammy is doing his homework standing! I never saw that before, and there exists several desks in the house, too!

Rudolph's friend Clara is visiting again. Sylvia has lit the cake to celebrate toddler Donna growing up! Seeing those 4 kids playing, knowing her last toddler is about to start school, makes her both grateful and sad, I assume.

What a nice celebration! Most of them singing and cheering.

Donna Clump is the only child with both black hair and green eyes. She will be Abraham and Sylvia's main heir, meaning she will pass on this challenge and take over this house, while her 3 siblings will move out. Donna is my gen 1 sim, and it is required that she stays in this house with her descendants, and that she lives long enough to see her grandchild reach level 10 of all 5 skills! Phew, is that even possible?

Sylvia's sack lunch routine has improved! Now that she needs to make 4, it's time saving to first cook a full family size meal, then make the sacks. She also uses leftovers, if possible. It's way quicker than to make them one by one. About sack lunch, a child will do fine even without, but it is kinda realistic to see the food gone when they return back home after school. So Sylvia makes them most days.

Rudolph, Sammy and Fiona all brought home a new school project. Abraham assists Rudolph.

Sylvia assists Fiona outside. Projects are quite quick to complete with some assistance from a parent.

But there are other subjects spinning these days. Sylvia chose Cooking as her skill. It means that also Donna, Donna's main heir, and then main heir's child, must all max out their cooking skill. Sylvia has also started to work on her outdoor unit. But Abraham has not decided on his skill yet.

Abraham travels to San Myshuno in order to visit their gym. First he listened to the famous violinist Toby Twoller. Abraham isn't interested in this kind of music, besides he thinks too much about what skill to choose. It's a bit urgent, because he will soon reach level 10 in Painting. If he rather want to choose Fitness, he will need to build fitness skills in a hurry! His top 3 is currently Painting (9), Parenting (7) and Fitness (5).

While exercising at the San Myshuno gym, he realizes how hard this skill is. It's not only time consuming, but it has no positive everyday side effects that will help the future households. Would it be wasted to force his descendants to max out this skill?

One night when Sylvia and Abraham had dinner alone, kids were out playing or busy in their rooms, Abraham decided. He will make Painting his main skill! It's good work that brings in money, and he won't need to worry as much that Donna, her child and grandchild will all need to spend hours at their easels.

And he also got a nice idea for his outdoor unit!

To be continued...
