Albert Wickerwood, the guy who was raised to believe that ugly is better than nice, resides in his house with wife Myrhna and their two ugly kids Hui and Edna. No wait, Myrhna's elderly mom Anna Eastwood also lives there together with her fresh husband, Jonas. In fact, Jonas is convinced that the house belongs to Anna and not to Albert.
The elderly couple took over the master bedroom downstairs, and Albert and Myrhna were forced to move upstairs. Jonas thinks of them as renters, but they don't really mind a lot. It shouldn't make much of a difference, should it?
Kids go to school everyday, Albert to his job at the police station. No, wait again...
What is Albert doing on that kissing booth while he was supposed to be at work? And how unfortunate, that Jonas accidentally walked in on him!
- Jeeze, Albert, what are you up to?, Jonas asked, quite confused to see his wife's son-in-law selling kisses in the park.
- Oh, Jonas, you here? Isn't it lunch time? I'm, uhm, not selling anything, just hanging here...
- Yes, it's lunch time soon, but I had to come downtown to buy the house paint that you forgot all about!
- Well, don't tell...
- Don't tell Myrhna? Of course she would like to know that you are kissing other women!, Jonas said, but then he thought that maybe this new knowledge could be used for something good? Jonas could use this secret for what it was worth!
One hour later, Jonas had returned back home with the paint. Neighbors and even the Town Council had complained for so long, that this house is the ugliest house in town. Albert thinks of it as a victory, while Myrhna had convinced Anna and Jonas to paint the house since they don't bring in any money to the household. Ladders were rigged, paint was ready, they should get started right after lunch!
- Well Jonas, this food stinks. Let's rather get to work, house painting here I come!, Anna said and left the table.
- Yea, food needs to improve now that we will be working so hard, Jonas said and followed his lovely gray haired wife.
Meanwhile the kids had just returned from school and were in their room.
- So he told me that I was ugly!, Edna cried.
- Don't worry, be happy!, her older brother Hui chimed in. - Dad might be right, maybe ugly is good!
- But I don't wanna be ugly even if it's good! How am I supposed to become this year's princess at school if I'm ugly?
- Siss, you can do better than princess! Go for the troll tittle, it's much harder to achieve!
- Really?, Edna said, and finally she was smiling again. Good job, Hui, cheering your sister up like that!
A little later both Hui and Edna were busy with their homework and Myrhna had just cleaned the kitchen and was taking a rest on the sofa. Then Albert who just had been outside inspecting the painting progress, rushed into the house screaming!
- Oh no, they both fell down from that ladder! Your mom is dead, Myrhna!
- What? How...?
- I think they were fighting over the paint or something, or maybe they just thought they were much younger than they are. We shouldn't have let them, Myrhna!
Myrhna rushed outside, but her mom, Anna, could not be saved, she was already dead! Jonas was laying on the ground also, but after just a rest he was able to stand up. Nothing broken.
- Oh, poor mom!, Myrhna cried. - She was my only family!
- No, you are wrong dear. She was your only nice looking family, you still got us!
Myrhna called the town administration to arrange for the funeral, but also to sort out any saving and bank account. Then she was up for a surprise!
- I'm just checking whatever goods she owned, there might be some bank account?
She was hoping to inherit a few hundred simoleons, but no.
- The only account holds a balance of 4 simoleons. But there is the house, should the ownership be transferred?
- House?, Myrhna gasped.
- Yes m'am, the ugliest house in town. Anna Eastwall is registered as the owner. I assume it shall be inherited by her widower, Jonas P. Eastwall?
Myrhna had to sit down, how could Albert's house be legally transferred to her mom? She informed Albert, and it turned out that Anna had become the owner when she married not so long ago. The case looked a little strange, but the employee who changed the ownership back then just died, and there were no documents to be found. Albert would need to take the new owner, Jonas, to court if he wanted to claim ownership!
Jonas sure appreciated how things turned out! He whispered to Albert that if he raised as much as a tiny protest, he would tell Myrhna that her beloved and ugly husband spends the days kissing foreign women in the park! Albert loved his family above anything, he would need to think it all over. He could not even stand the thought of losing Myrhna thanks to a misunderstanding. So, he did not protest, yet.
- Good!, Jonas said. - It's all a terrible situation, but we all will need to relay to me as the new owner of this place. As the owner I will no longer be painting the house, instead you, Albert and Myrhna will do it!
Albert was about to protest, but then thought of his lovely family again. A divorce would probably take away Hui and Edna, his ugly kids. One day one of them would bring along the Wickerwood family, and have their own ugly kids. Being as renters or owners of this house.
End of season 1 - this series will take a break this fall.
