Welcome! :) On this blog you will find stories, how i play and videos created with The Sims 4, but also a few projects from older game versions can be found in the Archive. The old TS3 stories have their own blogs. Most long going stories have a main page with index of updates.

Check out Simmerville's Youtube channel!

I'm no longer on Tumblr! I refused to give all their 3rd parties unlimited access to my computer. Link still works, but no updates.

Building a Royal Estate - Part 5

I'm nearly done with the 3rd floor, which is the royal family's private domains. So here's part 5 of my series of 6-8 weekly blog posts, this time with pictures and text on half the 3rd floor.

I'm building and equipping not only this huge estate, but I also build the family tree and back story of the royal House of Luxe-Hamper. This family held the Tredony barony for generations before they were offered the Throne after the kingdom had  been lacking a Monarch for 32 years. Today's Monarch is the grandchild of King Tybe, who was more or less head hunted for the job back then.

In case you missed the previous articles (links to the entire series end of article); I have too much CC to provide links as we go. If you see something of interest, just drop me a comment and I'll look up credits and link.

So, this is Chateau Peak located at The Pinnacles in  Del Sol Valley. If you look closely you will see King Tarriot and Queen Venezia standing on the front steps. That's right, the current King Tarriot married! This took place 19 years ago, so there are also kids coming along: In act they had 4 children + the King adopted his half-sister! So, without  servants or pets, this household already count 7 members. I wonder why I care about the servants sections at all...

Children are still just kids, the only teenager is, Amalia. She is not descending from a Monarch so she can not have the Princess style, but she is treated as a regular family member. I noticed some rivalry between the kids as they grew up, and Amalia was normally angry and sour as a lemon. I'm saving those intrigues for a blogpost when the building is done.

Now, let's start the tour of the 3d floor:

We're done with 1st floor (ROYAL) and 2nd floor (NOBLE). I was looking forward to equip their daily rooms on 3rd floor, but it was way harder than I expected! It's so easy to add damask and glamor again, but fact is that even royals prefer to tone it done a bit when nobody can see them. Besides, while the first floors can't be glamorous enough, the private domains finally gives them a chance to save some money.

That said, the rooms are still way bigger and more glamorous than most of my other houses. Just a bit less gold and rococo. On 3rd floor there is also less need of grouping rooms by functionality, but there is a certain organization by children's bedroom wing, the Monarch's bedroom wing, skills area, living and dining. Another subject was the staff's routing.

Because some rooms are subject to change on the left side, I'll add numbers and text for the right one half only. Above is the floor map:

A. Kitchen
B. Dining
C. Living
D. Bar
E. Aquarium Lounge
F. Hobby room
G. King and Queen's dressing room
H. Royal Bed Chamber
I. Master Bathroom
1-2. Hallways
3-4 Terraces
X. Staircases

Lots of personal paintings and photos are lacking, also some color preferences should come into play. I realized I need to play the household over time for those additions. So what you see here s a start, but will change.

A. Kitchen
It's nothing special, as the staff will cook in the main kitchen in basement. This room is intended for the household to cook for themselves on days they prefer privacy, or to train children a bit. Whatever is agreed upon, the staff might cook up here occasionally. This kitchen is very close to the stair tower (X), meaning the walk (climb) down to the main kitchen could not be more effective.

That double door leads into the dining room.

B Dining room
Originally I planned to build several dining areas on this floor, but I ended up with this room only, as it is so close to the kitchen. In addition the household will dine on 2nd floor Weekends or when they have visitors, this gives a total of 4 alternatives - which should be enough for now.

The dining room is large enough for adding one extra table if needed. You never know...

This room is the first in a row of 3 dining/living rooms which I assume is where the King and Queen will spend quite some time.

C. Living
Below is the middle room, the general living room for relaxation. There is a large fireplace, music and books. I wanted all white classy sofas, but among my 500 billion sofas, I found no white version with a certain class... But, I compensated by finally grabbing some CC ceiling decor - which was also added to some of those room we already saw on lower floors.

Will need a few more family photos in this room. The one on the fireplace mantel is  King Tarriot as a teenager, photographed on vacation to Sulani.

Below you see two more formal photos. To the left is Queen Venezia as a little girl with her brother Sacariaz Mandrake (currently Lord Tartosa) and their parents. The right side photo shows late Queen Evez' uncle A with wife and son and daughter - I think they are all dead by now and their descendants are too distant to be seen as members of the House of Luxe-Hamper.

I really wish the game had quick ways to take group photos like these, and not mainly the "yay I'm so special" model poses. I use poses, it's quite tedious but a must for decent family photos.

D. Bar area
The third room is another sofa group and another fireplace, but now with a bar near by :)

I thought it was cool setting up the bar against the wall, without the high stools. I did not test it yet, but placed a fancy drinks serving tray there just in case.

So, we're done with the row of three.

E. Aquarium Lounge
Not really sure what to call this room, its location is very central connecting the skills area and the Monarch bed swing, the hobby room aaand the little terrace.

The lounge looks quite comfy, and I think it might be used for socializing rather than reading etc. Someone will walk by frequently, so this is not exactly a study. They might gather wedding photos on the wall there, at least those that will not  suite better on 2nd floor.

There are two large aquariums, with 3 fish species in each. One of the princes is tending them, but everyone enjoy having a look at them.

I did mention 4 children + 1 adopted half-sister, but I did not reveal their order of succession. Well, the oldest is Princess Emireza Maria Belle, so after King Tarriot there will again be a Queen. The other 3 are all princes; Prince Bazillimus Ferdinand, Prince Cecil Sophus (the one who tends the fishes) and Prince Marcuz Horus. Cecil and Marcuz are twins. I'll introduce them better in the next article tat will deal wih the children's bedroom wing and more.

F. Hobby room
The king himself occupied the  hobby room with his Archaeology interest. He traveled multiple times to Selvadorada and spends some time in here to uncover treasures. The idea is to exhibit the finer items on 1st floor (some are already there).

So, we need to walk over to the Royal Bed Chamber! The hallway (2) pictured below connects the main staircase to this right side of the 3rd floor, including the master bedroom wing.

I like the light in this room, a mix of light, colors and daylight. That door below is to the Aquarium Lounge, you see the stairs on the right, and the two chairs are meant for anyone waiting to access the dressing room.

Let's check out the King and Queen's dressing room:

G. Dressing room
So, in real life there might be separate dressing rooms for male and female household members. I will rarely play in this rom, so I didn't feel like donating a full wing for that purpose. Besides, only the King and Queen will use these facilities, I assume they will handle rather well by themselves on daily basis, and for special events where they get assistance from staff, they will organize well by time schedule.

The room is rather feminine, a result of not that many items in my game for a male dressing room... Anyway, I assume the Queen will spend way more time in here than the King or Prince Consort.

It's a working space, which feels fine. There is also a massage chair for pedicure and foot bath (which might turn out to be the main usage of this room, lol).

By the way, I plan to build a small sewing room in the basement. It could have bee next door to the dressing room, but the stair tower is near by...

H. Royal Bed Chamber
In the old days, a Monarch would have a bed chamber the size of a village. In my case they will only sleep and woohoo there, so basically they won't need a lot more than the bed. Anyway, with ceiling decór and some nifty royal furniture, I think my royal master couple will like their room.

Blue is the kingdom's signature color, but red is the color of House of Luxe-Hamper.

Perhaps you recognize the wall mural? It was in the Sims Medieval monarch bed chamber, and I pretend they rescued a bit of the original, and supplied what was missing in order to have it recreated.

The King and Queen used to eat their breakfast here by the fireplace, before Chateau Peak was filled with children. Although staff looks after the princess and princes (+ adopted half-sister), Queen Venezia prefer having breakfast with them most days.

From the Royal Bed Chamber they can walk straight out on the biggest terrace (3) - unfortunately I did nothing out there yet.

There is also a second and smaller terrace (4), connecting the two sides of the building as the terrace below can be accessed from each sides. In both ends there is a room with open arches, meaning the space can be used eve if it rains. So, maybe some hobbies could be performed in there?

The view is great down to Del Sol Valley even from 1st floor, so it ought to be splendid up here! I think they might get sun here for a few hours mid day, but the main terrace outside the Royal Bed Chamber is way more sunny and spacious, and might function as their garden up here.

In a week we'll check out the rest of 3rd floor, which also includes several hobby and skill building rooms! Stay cool!
