Count and Countess of Ticktop on Cruise

(Year 234, Summer) It's still work in progress, but I enjoyed testing my new cruising ship, so why not share some pictures?

Count Helfert (50) and Countess Elisabeth (55) of Ticktop, on a normal day located in Glimmerbrook of my Crafthole region, went on a cruise! It was the countess' gift for her husband's 50th birthday. And perhaps also meant to get his thoughts off the fact that he is no longer seen as of high nobility, now that the Ticktop county's District Order was paused. It means a huge downgrade within Aristocracy, but not much they can do about. Or should I say - do a boat?

«The Admiral» is obviously not completed yet, I've added more windowes along the side, and some of the rooms need way more attention, too. The ship is operated by a company owning several ships, but this one offers the most popular cruises. They decided to join the cruise in Sulani, quite the trip, but let's just say other options did not fit well with the count's schedule.

This beach is actually owned by House of Ross, they have a vacation home nearby, but it was not yet desided whether the beach shall get a bigger harbor construction. Probably not, but that won't be written in stone - or sand - quite yet.

Countess Elisabeth: Are you sure we can leave our luggage on the beach? Won't the locals steal from it?

Count Helfert: No they will not. It said on the sign that our stuff will be carried onto the ship shortly.

They arrived the ship's reseption, where a receptionist wished them welcome.

She confirmed their stay was booked for 6 nights, and that they will departure in Innisgreen, which is up north of Sea kingdom.

Countess Elisabeth: Thank you, that is correct. We will return to Mazaloom by another ship up there.

Count Helfert: When will our room be ready?

Receptinist explained that the other guests just left for a tour of Sulani, and that their staff is busy cleaning the rooms. They can pick up the key in two hours. Why not have a drink in the bar while they wait?

Countess Elisabeth: And our luggage... it is on the beach... unguarded...

The receptionist explained that their trunks were already  brought to The Admiral, and will be in their room shortly.

Countess Elisabeth: We are here to celebrate my husband's birthday. Do you know if some of our company did arrive?

The receptionist did not know, but the ship won't leave this beach until in the evening.

Countess Elisabeth: So, let's find the bar! This room might be it?

They entered the restaurant, with counters for food and coffee, but no bar. The idea is that someone will cook a few group meals and place them in the counter. When saved, future visitors can pick plates and eat, always fresh. Afterwards I figured that a buffet table might be more suitable, and it will also add to the costs - which is even more realistic...

Count Helfert: Look, they have a stage. Do you know if someone I heard about will entertain me? Or is that a secret?

Countess Elisabeth: Shrug. No secret, dear. The artist Olla Jones will sing here tonight. I know you like her music!

This little stage with a vintage piano and a mic is intended for small concerts by my many artists. It's cool for them to have various venues to perform their stuff. So, they might visit this ship to work instead of being a regular cruise passanger.

The couple finally found the bar, it was next door.

This room is not completed yet. It's quite the challenge squeezing numerous activities into small rooms. The casino table right behind them has since been moved to another deck.

Countess Elisabeth: So, what will you fancy?

Count Helfert: No wait. I shall buy you this drink, Thank you for this marvelous birthday gift! I'm sure we will have a wonderful cruise!

After the drink they were notified that their room was ready. So, they climbed one stair and looked for room number 3.

Countess Elisabeth: I'm glad we did not get room number 13!

Count Helfert: I do not think that any ship uses number 13. I think it was the sea guys who created the unlucky myth.

Well, they could never get room #13 because there are only 4 rooms on this ship. Let's just pretend there are a few more...

Each room is semi-spacious, with their private bathroom. All of them got various swatches of this whimsical wallpaper (and ceiling paint), but I plan to change them quite a bit. Maybe holding back though, making it a future improvement to lure more guests to revisit.

Our couple are still pretty much the only guests. They desided to relax on one of the two sundecks available.

Countess Elisabeth: Sigh, this is exactly what I needed...

Count Helfert: Oh my dear. Did you forget to shave your legs? They are actually more hairy than mine...

Countess Elisabeth: I will stop by the Spa later, they might offer such treats.

After a good hour Elisabeth suggested to visit the captain!

Countess Elisabeth: I'm sure he wants to meet you. And it might raise our chance to sit at his table for dinner.

They climbed a few more stairs and found the ship's commando center, but no captain!

Countess Elisabeth: Oh, that is weird. Should he not be around to greet us? You are a Count, regardless of that silly District Order. If nothing else, the Captain should be her to navigating this ship!

Count Helfert: You do realize we are currently not moving? I believe the Captain has a few hours off. We can try again later. If you informed them about our status when ordering, I'm sure they already organized something for the Captain's table, though.

So, their next sop will be the Spa...

Countess Elisabeth: Hello! Do you provide shaving a lady's legs?

Both Masseurs shook their heads.

Count Helfert: Then I think we can do fine with some massage instead...

They are now on the lower deck. I pretend there are more decks, like a full story for staff, but it gets too hard building a large ship with the limits of the game. This floor offers many activities. The Spa connects to sauna, gym and showers. Then there is a cinema theatre, a gaming room, a casino, and a small aquarium room.

Countess Elisabeth: Let's check out he aquarium room!

Countess Elisabeth: Oh... these long corridors... where is that fish exhibition that I read about? Not here... not here...

They did not find it. Insead they found the gaming room and desided to try some luck while noone can observe them. Slot machines might not be fit for a Count.

These machines are CC, and sims can actually win or lose money. I wish it was a tad harder to win, though. Elisabeth did not win, but Helfert did.

The gaming room needs lots more attention. Picture was taken before I desided to use the next door room for the casino.

The cinema is pretty much completed, though. It's rather easy building a cinema, it's supposed to be dark anyway...

Some of the birthday party guests did arrive the ship, and on the back row we see Countess Annette of Altham, Duchess Prudence de Aarbyville, and (I think) Count Chander of Advorton (Elisabeth's brother).

The blueskinned woman chatting with Elisabeth was not on their guest list, but is in fact HRH Queen Medaka of Sea (!!!). She obviously desided to stop by he ship to watch a vintage movie, or maybe she had heard about Count Helfert's birthday celebration? They are no way relaed, by the way.

At night they all dressed up to eat dinner in the restaurant. Helfert and Elisabeth's daughter Penelopa showed up to join the meal. Their two sons were present as well, but not appropriatly dressed.

To the left are Countess Annette of Advorton and Duchess Prudence de Aarbyville, again.

So much still to be built on this ship, but it was nice seeing that they could navigate the ship with ease, and that also random sims visited the ship. It's a problem controling what random sims wear, so I don't think this will be a very formal cruise ship after all.

Unless I build a (small) residence for the Captain on the lot, and then making the ship a small business. This would allow to set dressing code and to attract the rich and famous, perhaps avoid children. But basically, going on a cruise will probably be fun for a couple days, but might still be a fun alternative to a regular vacation lot. Sims can sleep on a community lot, but they can not lock other sims out of their bedroom. Not seeing that as a huge problem, though.

Now I need to experiment a bit with different community lot categories. On first test, the lot was categorized a bar. This made all bars being served, which is not a bad thing. I suspect bars get more crowded in the night, though, while it would be more fun with plenty of sims around all day. I might try Lounge, Museum, Park and Recreation Center. Not in a hurry...

Bonus: Floor plans covering all 4 decks:

This is the lowest floor, accessed by stairs in the reception area. The cinema and aquarium room to the left, Spa/Gym centered, a small room with bubble smoke machine and a music machine, and the gaming room to the right. Casino is not picured, but is outside the gaming room.

Entrance floor starts with the reception area, including storage room and restroom to the left. Restaurant centered, and the bar to the right. When dining, guests can sit outside. While the ship was categorized as a Bar, sims seemed to brin their plate to the bar to eat. This might change if recategorized. There is some extra space to the right of the bar, not sure yet whether it is needed, or if the bar can be extended. Pehaps the stage shall be in the bar instead.

Next floor includes the 4 rooms, a whimsical garden lounge, which I forgot to take pictures in. Guests can just relax there, or trim a bonzaii, or have some tea in there. All to the left is the lower sundeck including a jaccuzzi. Underneeth there is a yet not used room, so I guess there could be a small swimmingpool - maybe too small to be practical, but might be good for the looks...

Top floor is the operation center + a bigger area with sunbeds. Might add some more stuff here, but I tend to think practical, and on a ship, this high up, I guess they avoid lots of loose items... Another bar might be fine, though.

Okay, thanks for reading this far - ship a'hoy:)
