(Year 232, Spring) This Winter we got a new Landlord Deed, and the rental business has really reached a new level. In most of our 8 regions we got rental units, and Landlords have also been fighting over land to build their rental residential establishments. Not everyone applauds this development.
On the main street of Newcrest's Crestville this morning, Politician and Vice-President Silverbone allowed herself one hour of protesting. Fanny Silverbone (72) belongs to the «Simoleons for Everyone» fraction of the LEFT party, and despite also representing the nation as the 2nd most important Politician at People Chamber, giving less room for individual opinions, she had to let go of some steam.
- The development is too rapid!, she stated. - In my book money for everyone means that we shall share, not that a few Landlords shall have it all! We sure got those Landlord Deeds that are required to rent out multiple units, but that does not seem to stop the wealthy and greedy to grab as much land as possible for future earnings!
She was alone protesting, but got positive reaction from people walking by.
- I'm not saying that this street would not benefit from some renovation, but this street is unique as 4 out of 5 lots are community services. With all those rental complexes the street will become very busy, but residents will have no community services! We can not leave hood planning to the Landlords! We need a few more restrictions!
Today there is a jazz club with a bar, a burger restaurant, a gallery and a museum. Most builds are old and simple, and none of them are of historical value, except the burger restaurant sharing the lot with a graveyard, making it less interesting to the Landlords. None of the 4 lots were very busy this morning.
- I will ask the LEFT party to write a protest at our annual gathering in Tartosa next week, instructing People Chamber to implement some speed break regarding the new rental business. We simply need a better way to restrict the development, as we will not make a better community by turning every lot into a rental money machine benefiting the few!
Local resident, Corinne Dougham Mester Crestville (68) kept a distance to Silverbone's protest.
- I wholeheartedly disagree! My family estate is here, right behind me, and we are tired of our trashy neighbors. If it was not for my family's local history, we would have moved elsewhere long ago! I must say I can't wait to see this street upgraded, and I will gladly applaud the Landlords who will be paying that bill!
Said the woman who is probably still one of our kingdom's wealthiest woman... Perhaps she is pushing this development more than she admits? She holds no Landlord Deed, though, so she can not currently benefit from the rental system.
