(Year 233, Fall) The anual bowling cup took place in Gloomville this weekend, and the bowling club has proven that this event has come to stay. This year no true celebrities qualified for the 8 available start numbers, so the problem from last year when fans and photographers occationally disturbed the contenders was avoided.
Club leader Bill Loffertop (66) said that advertising had been sparse in order to make the tournament more effective. It was the first year that all except qualifications tok place during the same weekend. It would not have been possible with a bigger audience. The challenge is that some of the audience walk in to talk with contenders during the set. We have no international venue where the audience is seated separately from the bowling lanes.
- Next year we might arrange the base sets with no audience present, but advertise the grand finale and the bronze finale for a supportive audience on Sunday.
The Super Bowler contest turned out exciting and not without surprises. The first surprise was that last years champion, Roger Lockerbud, lost his first set. Also Ramona Talcom (56) and Polly Prescott (17) surprisede with a strong result.

Gold to Bianca Sterner (Copperdale), silver to Ramona Talcom (Brindleton Bay), and bronze to Polly Prescott (Copperdale). |
Winner was Bianca Sterner (58), who won all her sets with 150, 89 and 286 points. She is now ranked first of the ten registered elite bowlers.
- Top three being all female might not signalize the wide specter of members that we have, Bill Loffertop continues. - The club is open for all. The only restriction is that you must be minimum 15 years old to sign up for contests. We would also like to get more members in southern Mazaloom. Right now it seems like bowling stands stronger in the northern regions, especially Crafthole and Gloom.
