Ochana finally got the new kitchen floor that she wanted for so long. She thought the upgrade from linoleum to tiles made a great impact.
Cleaning the kitchen was much more fun with a new floor!
Then she sat down to read a little. She wished there was a book telling everything about Gloomville's past. Instead she read about timber industries of the past, quite a boring subject, but maybe she would find something of interest?
- Uhm, how can timber industry ever get interesting? she thought to herself.
So, she put the book aside, and studied the Secret Mission's Rules and Directions instead. She had this nagging feeling that she was late for something! She won't need to find every single answer, after all there will be plenty of time for the coming 5 generations to investigate further. But she might still be in a hurry. There are 3 more poisons in the attic to drink. And she has just about started her own book for the secret diary collection.
According to the rules she should add one new tradition to the list. Each generation is supposed to. She thinks it should have to do with cooking. Maybe a certain cake for the Main Legacy Holder's birthdays? And how about the kids? Who should be the Main Heir and the Secondary Heir? Edith, Miranda, Pivian or Paula? Pivian and Paula's teen birthday is coming up very soon! And why by Similius would Secondary Heir need to live over at Oasis Springs? Was there a connection that she had totally missed?
- How was your day, dear? Chad asked as he washed his hands. Then he walked into the shower before Ochana got to answer his question.
- The new floor is brilliant, said Ochana.
- Oh, you really need a shower, said Chad. - What have you been up to?
- I've been reading, she answered. - And cooking.
- Well, I'm freshly showered, Chad stated. - I guess you will need to touch some water before you will be allowed to touch me, he joked.
- It's Pivian and Paula's birthday very soon, Ochana said. - With four teens in this house, we really need to expand the bathroom!
Even if they can't afford equipping the bedrooms upstairs, they might be able to squeeze in one additional, small bathroom?
Kids returned from school, and as soon as Pivian had started a new experiment on the chemistry table, a fire started! Luckily, bot Ochana and Edith were early on the task, and the flames wee quickly under control.
Miranda had decided to take a walk down to Muggerfield hood. She wanted to check out Muggerfield Fair that she noticed when she visited the Mugger household. Muggerfield Fair is a traditional market for the local farmers, but there's also provided refreshments and more.
So, where are all the farmers?
And, where is Alan Mugger? He is a farmer, he even lives right across the street.
Miranda got seated, perfectly facing the Mugger Farm. And after a while, Alan Mugger walked over to the Fair!
- Hello there! Miranda greeted him.
- Uhm, hi! he said.
Then he sat down. He seemed a little mellow, and Miranda wasn't even sure if he was glad to see her or not.
She wished she had taken a shower before she left. And it was so hard to converse with Alan!
Then other locals flocked to their table and before Miranda knew it, Alan was busier talking with these guys than with her. Such a strange place!
A few days later, Ochana walked over to the neighbours at Willow Farm. She often thought to herself that it would be easier if the farm was named Oaksdale Farm after the families that actually resided rhere for generations. Didn't they even found the farm? Why not Oaksdale Farm?
Agaton Oaksdale was out there tending the plants.
- Hello Agaton! she shouted.
- Hi Ochana! What a busy day, these weeds are about to overtake all my Spinach!
- Miranda is helping me a lot with the garden, maybe she could give you a hand, too?
- Oh thanks, said Agaton. - That would be nice, but this is my job, so I guess I should try to deal with it. Besides, some day Tammy will take over the farm, so she will need every practice that she can get.
Then Agaton's wife, Sonia, appeard outside the kitchen door.
- Agaton, coffee! Mark, Brenda and the girls just arrived! Oh, Ochana, you're there too... join us, you'll need a break, from whatever you are up to!
So, Ochana walked inside, and in the living room were Mark (Agaton's brother), his wife Brenda Kammin, and their 2 daughters. Daughter of the house, Tammy, was there too, wearing her blue cap. She was a lonely child, intending to take over the farm. Some time ago Ochana found that Tammy might look like the old Glee people who was said to have lived here before the town expanded. But later she learned that Tammy's red hair came from Sonia's family, and not from the Oaksdales.
Wait, where did Sonia actually hail from? She didn't grow up here in Gloomville, but maybe her parents did?
- I think I'll leave after all, said Ochana. - Gotta cook dinner for my pack...
- Oh, we'll talk some other day then, said Sonia.
And Ochana decided to ask Sonia about her family. And why the farm wasn't simly named Oaksdale Farm. Better do that when they were alone...
That night Ochana spent hours in the secret office. She wrote a lot in her diary, and because Chad was working, Pivian and Paula slept over at some friends' place, and Edith and Miranda both were out somewhere, nobody wondered where Ochana was hiding in the attic.
Ochana thought it was on time she had the forth poison. Long ago she received 6 small bottles from the late Aileen Gleeson. They were all referred to in the Rules and Directions. The forth bottle was "Energized (for feeling stronger when the job gets too big)". And the secret mission actually started to feel too big. What if Sonia descended from the Glee person, Mr. Flock, who was offer to injustice by the Oakdales? Or maybe Ochana was just imagining things. She had to talk with Sonia as soon as possible!
Then Ochana raised the cup to her mouth, and drank the forth poisn.
- To Energy! she whispered.
Nobody passing Glee Abode would know what took place uo there in the attic. And it was a very silent night, too.
To be continued in about a week.
