(Year 230, Spring) The 5 years election surprised everyone with a strong RIGHT wind - or should we say storm? From having 8 of 19 elective seats at The People Chamber including the Vice President position (meaning LEFT had more power), the RIGHT party will now have 10 seats and the President position for the coming 5 years. Even their President candidate (and former Vice President), Rob Wilder (69), was «quite overwhelmed»!
RIGHT party's new core group (L to R): Lord Bennet Ross (Henford-on-Bagley), Emma Ratchild (Tartosa), Rob Wilder (San Myshuno), Charloman C. Dougham (Newcrest) and Ingar Wunderberg (Windenburg). |
The video Region 12 NEWS - Year 230 Election TV special was released yesterday.
Right after the election all three parties got busy fine tuning their ranked list of candidates for The People Chamber. The original list from last Spring went public on 1st day of Fall, but then they knew nothing about the results. Because seats must be filled not only according to the number of won Hood Contacts, but also with reference to each region's population, it is normal that the parties make a few changes when seeing the complete results.
The above illustration shows how seats are shared between the parties. 2 seats are reserved Church of Similius (the plumbob), and are not affected by the election.
The election
When some do well, it means that others must have done worse than expected. The LEFT party was disappointed, but keep 7 seats at The People Chamber + they get the Vice President, meaning they will still have a certain influence. The MIDDLE party also lost one seat to the RIGHT party, leaving them with just 2 seats and not really much power to highlight their focus cases.
Nation wide there were elected 32 Hood Contacts. While many names were a repeat from previous period, there were also some newcomers and even a few controversies.
In Evergreen Harbor only LEFT and MIDDLE had candidates, but LEFT's Cletus Spencer (53) was disqualified just hours before the election, due to not meeting the needed skill level. There are certain requirements for running for Hood Contact, such as having skills of minimum level 2 in Logic and Charisma. Due to some mistyping this was not discovered previously. In other words, an easy win for the MIDDLE party. But will Knox Greenburg (39) reach The People Chamber? Neither he was very skilled...
At San Myshuno's Arts Quarter LEFT won, but it was actually dead run between LEFT's Jang and RIGHT's Wusha. When this was known, Wusha withdrew his candidature with reference to Jang's massive experience from several periods at The People Chamber, lastly leading the Culture & Entertainment department. So, Anaya Jang (64) continues as Hood Contact, but it remains to see whether she will keep her Chamber seat.
MIDDLE party's new core group (L to R): Baron Vincent of Man (Aarbyville), Knox Greenburg (Evergreen Harbor), Rebekah Starks (Newcrest), Elvira Echos (Advorton) and Miranda Mox (Brindleton Bay). |
We also saw a Duke becoming the Hood Contact! Duke Victus of Meadows (56) is the Hood Contact of Fashion District. This is the first time a high nobility Peer holds such a position, and because he can not be both in The People Chamber and The Royal Chamber (where he already is a Knight), Duke Victus had reserved himself from the further Council election.
Regional results
Let's take a quick look at each of the kingdom's eight regions!
Region 1 - Windenburg
They had some trouble with the votes at Oldtown, but finally the RIGHT party won both Oldtown and Dresden. Lykke & Isle, Moonwood and Granite Falls will have their Hood Contacts assigned by the Region 1 Council (in Moonwood Hill it's actually called a «Moon Contact»). Because Windenburg already voted for LEFT's political program, it is even more extraordinary that RIGHT did so well!
Region 2 - Rossie
Out of 6 Hood Contacts, they only had political candidates in two hoods: Foxbury in Britechester, and in Henford-on-Bagley. LEFT party got Foxbury, while RIGHT got Henford. Lord Bennet Ross (45), who was re-elected for the latter, is the younger brother of Duke Jarret of Rossie.
MIDDLE was hoping for green support in Rossie, but failed for now.
Region 3 - Tredony
Tredony is home to previous President, Laurent Pepperstone (59), and he was re-elected Hood Contact for LEFT party. Ratchild was re-elected for Tartosa, she represents RIGHT.
Pepperstone is confirmed to continue as Region 3's Mayor, but after the election he refused to comment on whether he will be seen in The People Chamber as the next Vice President. He is not to blame, it is actually quite normal that a losing President leaves the chamber.
Region 4 - Crafthole
RIGHT got one hood, and LEFT got one. MIDDLE got nothing. Roger Lockerbud (RIGHT) seems to be their new regional Mayor.
Region 6 - Aarbyville
MIDDLE got the Porte Aarbyville Hood Contact, and this is probably their most important position as this region is so busy on trades. LEFT got the Hood Contact at Aarby. It remains to see whether MIDDLE's Vince de Croismare (43 and actually a Baron), will also be the region's Mayor. He is the younger brother of Duke Vibrattore de Aarbyville.
Region 7 - Advorton
MIDDLE got an important Hood Contact, here as well, at Advorton Main. RIGHT also won one hood.
Region 8 - Ticktop
RIGHT and LEFT won one hood each, in this LEFT based region.
Region 12 - Mazaloom
In our region, RIGHT got 9 hoods, while LEFT got 7 and MIDDLE got 2.
The new Region 12 Council
Oasis Springs and San Myshuno both got a new Councilor, much thanks to two previous Councilors not being candidates for this election. Oasis Spring's Josue Rosewood (77), Councilor of multiple periods, has turned elderly meaning he is too old to run. Former San Myshuno Coucilor, Edvin Phlum (70), was a bit more unlucky though as RIGHT party's 1st candidate, the former Vice President Rob Wilder, moved to Uptown, the hood where Phlum used to be the party's obvious representant. So, Phlum lost support from his own party.
The new Region 12 Council is:
Charloman Dougham (57) Newcrest, RIGHT, Mayor
Fanny Silverbone (70) Brindleton Bay, LEFT
Razira Jupiter (52) Oasis Springs RIGHT
Charlotta Crumpleton (63) Gloomville, RIGHT
Otto Vittingham (67) San Myshuno, RIGHT
Their department assignments are not yet ready, except Dougham keeping the Law & Justice.
The People Chamber
This election had candidates in 32 hoods, divided on the 19 available Chamber seats that gives the cost of 1,7 hood wins per seat at The People Chamber.
The result is:
RIGHT party: 16 Hood Contacts = 10 seats
LEFT party: 12 Hood Contacts = 7 seats
MIDDLE party: 4 Hood Contacts = 2 seats.
RIGHT got their tenth seat by decimals, they had the highest remainder: 0,41. MIDDLE lacked only 0,07 to grab that seat - bad luck!
Each party has already provided adjusted list of their ranked candidates for The People Chamber. This is always a puzzle because won seats must be combined with the regional population. A little bit down on the Community Page you will see how many seats each region must have. Region 12 is by far the largest, but gets only 9 seats. This is one of several reasons why many Politicians now root for a Region reform.
It's too early to go public with these lists, because the current President and Vice President might still need to spend a few days on the puzzle. The new sims will not take over until mid Spring. It was leaked though that previous President, Laurent Pepperstone, is no longer on LEFT party's list. This was not yet confirmed, but there are already speculations on who is top ranked by the LEFT party, and will become the next Vice President. Both Anaya Jang (64, San Myshuno) and Fanny Silverbone (70, Brindleton Bay) are both hot candidates!
The day after the election LEFT arranged its annual Spring meeting at Hotel Oceana, Tartosa. The core group was applauded and ex President Laurent Pepperstone received thanks and flowers.
Knox Greenburg and Rebekah Starks. |
MIDDLE party got only 2 seats, which is actually one less than previously. They promise to never give up, and already started working on their improved strategy.
