Mazaloom Royal Military Forces

(Year 230, Winter) This year the People Chamber, lead by President Rob Wilder, has been busy strengthening the focus on Law Enforcement, which might lead to a police reform during this 5 years period. This also includes the Court Chamber (aka High Court), which controls Lawyers, Police and Detectives. While we wait, let's check out the military organization, which also had some extra focus.

This is a generic illustration, not showing the actual title holders.

The Mazaloom Royal Military Forces is as old as the nation, but was reorganized several times, last time back when the Monarchy was reinstated in Year 150. The Monarch is the high protector of the organization, but the real military power is in the hands of the Grand Marshal. As seen above, there are three branches: Army Forces, Navy Forces (including some air craft forces), and finally the Royal Guard, which also covers the Covert Operator branch that is the least public of them all.

Anyone in the Military career do follow regular ranks, but in addition there are one Grand Marshal, one Army Lieutenant, one Navy Admiral and quite a few Majors - all appointed by Royal Act. the latter with heavy influence by Grand Marshal, but as always the Act needs approval from all three stately chambers.

There are no announced changes to the organization itself, but the new training camp at StrangerVille is being debated. There has also been talk of formalizing the existing camp grounds in Henford-on-Bagley, which is up to now used only occasionally by the Army squads. This will be on the political agenda next year.

The Royal Guard
Grand Marshal is head of the Royal Guard, but he is actually leading the entire organization. He works close to the Monarch, but reports directly to the President. This position is currently held by Robert Calves from Brindleton Bay/Chestnut Ridge. Army Lieutenant, Navy Admiral as well as the Royal Guard Security Majors all report to Grand Marshal.

Royal Guard has only 3 levels. Grand Marshal wears a white uniform and he will gladly cover himself with medals. Below him are the Royal Guard Majors (and Royal Security Major, not pictured above), each in charge of a team of Guards. The Majors normally wear no medals, but might be seen  with just a few for special occasions. The Royal Guards form the lower level of this branch. Unlike what many tend to believe, they are not first year soldiers, but they already served minimum one year as Private/Corporal in the Army or Navy forces, before some of them choose advancing to Royal Guard. They normally are seen wearing a blue uniform with white hat, but there is also a way more festive costume with Medieval roots and reference to the old llama cult, to be used for special occasions such as coronations, royal weddings and some festivals, even.

On the above illustration only Grand Marshal wears white gloves. Also the Royal Guard Majors and Guards will wear gloves at formal events.

The Army
Their base has been in Oasis Springs (Region 12) and Henford-on-Bagley (Region 2), with a division situated in StrangerVille (annex to Oasis Springs). This is the largest branch counting the highest number of squads, and most fresh soldiers do start their career in the Army Forces.

The Army Lieutenant reports directly to Grand Marshal, but is forming the top of the Army branch. There is only one Lieutenant in the Army Forces.

The Major is the lowest officer grade of the Royal Forces. There is one Major per Army Squad, in charge of 4-8 Corporals/Privates. While Lieutenant shows off  as many medals as possible, the Majors might carry just one or two medals at specific occasions, and white gloves at very formal occasions, only.

The soldiers start out as Private (Military lvl 1-2) wearing the basic green outfit. Corporals (lvl 3-4) will mostly wear the camouflage outfit ("Menig 2"). Some Corporals will get a position as Major in the Royal Forces when reaching Officer level, but most will follow the regular Military career grades.

The Navy Squad
Their base is in Aarbyville (Region 6). This is a smaller branch, despite historical attacks most often approached from the seas. It is possible to start a Royal Military Forces career in the Navy, but it gets much harder to get promoted as the Squads are fewer than in the Army branch.

The Navy Admiral (organizationally equal to Lieutenant) reports directly to Grand Marshal, but is forming the top of the Navy branch. There is only one Admiral, recognized by wearing tons of medals and white gloves at any occasion.

There are numerous Royal Navy Majors, each training 4-8 soldiers (Corporal/Private). The Majors might carry just one or two medals on specific occasions, and with white gloves even more rarely.

The fresh soldiers (Private, lvl 1-2) start out wearing the basic blue outfit, while Corporals (lvl 3-4) will mostly switch to the camouflage outfit ("Menig 2"). Navy Corporals might get appointed Royal Navy Major when reaching Officer level, but within the Navy there won't necessarily be enough positions for them all.

Despites females being encourage to join the Military career, this far Grand Marshal, Army Lieutenant and Navy Admiral were always males. A bit controversial when the Monarch is accusing Church of Similius for not including their women?
