(Year 232, Winter) Today a quick press meet-up took place at the Council House at Magnolia Promenade, San Myshuno. HRM King Tarriot had an announcement that was received with applause by all attendees.
Mazaloom kingdom has a system of extra taxes and tax reliefs, all to be summed up and charged on Tax Day. Tax Day occurs on 1st day of Spring every 5 years, 3 years after the election. Previously the royal family and the high nobility households were not affected by these extra taxes, but things are changing!
King Tarriot has claimed that in this case the royal household shall be treated like any other household. In other words, they shall pay extra tax according to the currently active political program for Region 3 Tredony and the nation. The king made the audience laugh by stating that these taxes do not always refer to values owned or the size of your home. Fact is that the extra tax will rarely exceed §2,000 per household. It is a common extra effort that several budgets of our community benefits from, and the King and Queen most definitely want to be part of this common extra effort.
When asked how the current taxes and reliefs will effect the royal household(s), the King chose not to go into detail, but repeated that the rules will now be the same for them as for anybody else.
A journalist wanted to know how the decision was received within the high nobility households, as none of the high nobility Peers were spotted at this meeting. King Tarriot did not want to speak on behalf of the 8 high nobility Peers, but said that 5 of them have a seat in the Royal Chamber, and the change was voted with only one of them voting blank. It means that minimum 4 out of 8 are clearly supporting the decision.
This was the first public press meeting where Royal Chief Attendant Ms Patricia Maiden was not present, as she is these days getting ready for her stately visit to Empire of Snorthia.

After the meeting, we decided to look into what extra taxes the royal house can expect next week.
In Region 3 there is extra taxes (each of §1,000) if there is any household member older than YA, if there is a cat or dog, if there is a cow or llama, and if there is a populated chicken coop on the lot. Only the first is valid for the current household at the royal palace.
Then there are several ways to achieve one r more tax reliefs (each of §1,000). Household member attending private high school, if there is a child in the household, if a member of the household has maxed a 10 lvl skill, and finally - in this region all household get a tax relief of §1,000 just for being a household. Also the latter relief hits the royal palace, meaning the total extra tax gets §0.
The household of HRH Prince Royale Blaise is not so lucky. Their extra tax to be paid on Tax Day is §2,000. They can afford it, though.
