Ochana was in a hurry to complete her volume of Gloomville Diaries. The old computer that she secretly uses in the attic, broke down. She had to see Ella Hikes. Ella is a tech freak, and she resides across the street together with her brother Adrian.
Ochana got a surprise when walking inside their house. Edith was there talking with Adrian Hikes! Adrian is one out of two single men, and Edith was obviously checking out the goods. Adrian is more or less Ochana's age, though...
- Oh, you here, Edith! Hello Adrian! Is Ella in?
- Hi, Ochana, Adrian greeted. Yes, she is in her room. Just walk right in...
She found Ella Hikes at her computer. Neighbours say that Ms Hikes will never find a partner and never have kids, because she never leaves her keyboard.
- Ella, I need you to fix me another computer, and I'm in a hurry!
- Ochana, you came to the right place. I'll get you a computer before lunch!
Meanwhile Edith had walked over to the next door neighhbours, the Grossing household. Their son Jamiel is just a couple years older than Edith. She found that he was still single, and Edith actually liked Jamiel more than the older Adrian. Jamiel's parents were known to be quite romantic, his dad is a well known violinist, while his mom is a famous author.
- How funny that we are both single! said Edith. - Then you must come with me to Club Captain Blue some time!
- I'd love to, Jamiel said. He could hardly take his eyes off her, and Edith wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. Did she mess up her makeup? Or did he like her?
Before she left, Jamiel grabbed her hands, and suggested them to go steady. Wow, that was a quick move!
And Edith accepted, although she wasn't quite comfortable with his extreme romantic behavior.
Few days later, Edith had baked some flirty cakes when Ochana walked into the kitchen.
- Oh, Edith, I baked these cakes when I was your age! Let's taste... uhm... no, you need some more practice...
- Oh, well, it was my first try, mom.
Edith's twin sister Miranda walked in. She has been told to move away now that Edith will take over this house, Glee Abode.
- I'm not at all happy about this, Miranda said as she sat down.
- What's up, Miranda?, Ochana asked. - Ah, I see, you mean moving to Oasis Springs?
- It's not me, mom. It's poor Alan. Now that we engaged he expects me to join him at Mugger Farm, naturally. He might rightfully break our engagement when he gets the news.
Ochana ate a second cake, and this time it tasted differently.
- Miranda, it will turn out for the best, I'm sure! At least, you won't need to stay here at Glee Abode for as long as our dear fish, Aquator. He was put there by one of the Sims by Numbers contestants, that was before I even met your dad, girls! Aquator is pretty old by now!
The next evening Edith returned back home with a huge smile on her face.
- Jamiel did propose! I'm engaged, and we'll get married soon!
This was both good and bad news to Ochana. On one hand she would finally pass on the Secret Mission to Edith. On the other hand she would need to complete the book before that wedding!
To Miranda it was only bad news. All along she had hoped for a miracle, allowing her to stay here at Glee Abode, and then Alan could join Miranda here instead, and they could develop a farm right here at Willow Field. But now it was all sealed - Edith would soon have her own family.
Miranda headed to Muggerdale to tell Alan.
- So, we will need to settle in Oasis Springs, or perhaps Newcrest is better for farming! Janet, your sister, can run Mugger Farm, and we'll start a brand new farm at our new address. It will be a new start for both of us, it might work!
- What?, Alan said and looked at her with his worried eyes. - Leaving Mugger Farm?
- Yes, if you still love me, you will need to go to Oasis Springs!
Back home Edith watched her favorite comedy show on TV.
She felt quite successful already, soon getting married and that there was some more responsibility regarding the secret mission thing that mom had talked about. Edith only knew that there were a few more details to be told. Hopefully it would be something she could live with, not ruining her chances to become a popular comedienne. One day she would be famous, guesting a TV show like that!
Up in the attic, Ochana was hammering away on the keyboard. Not that she had so much to write about, but she had to complete her book tonight.
It was important that everything was well explained. Some day soon Edith would sit here to read all the diaries up to now. These books would be the only source for future descendants to solve the Gloomville mystery!
Next morning they all had breakfast on the terrace. As soon as Pivian had left the table, and Ochana was alone with Edith, she grabbed her attention.
- Edith, today you must come with me to a secret location!
- What? My schedule is full, mom!
- Nonsense! You will come with me! You will be given the Secret Mission today, and it can't be done at home.
They got dressed and traveled to Muggerdale Hood. Ochana had looked forward to this day for years! It was finally time to visit the hideaway place again! The Flock Hideaway!
The old tree was still there, but how would she gain access?
- Mom, what are you doing?, Edith askd while Ochana climed inside the old tree.
- Come Edith! We are going on a journey!
Arriving Flock Hideaway was even more breathtaking than Ochana could remember.
- Wow, said Edith.
- Yes, isn't it beautiful! Now we need to find the pond. That's where you will receive the Secret Mission, Edith!
Edith couldn't quite get used to this weird place.
- How can this be real, mom? I mean, the tree is still over there, but we are not inside it. I don't understand...
- Come! said Ochana eagerly.
- There it is!, Ochana cheered. - The lovely waterfall!
Edith was getting suspicious. - I must be dreaming. What is this place?
Ochana reached Edith the 6 bottles of poison and gave her a brief instruction.
- More can be found in the secret office at home, she said.
Then Ochana told about how she suspected that a man called Mr. Flock from the old Glee People had escaped to this hidden place long ago, hence the name Flock Hideaway.
- I waited all these years to return to look for him! I think he holds important information to solve the Secret Mission.
- Oh, I never heard about Mr. Flock, said Edith.
- Of course you didn't! The mission is secret, after all. Now, I'll drink to Confidence and you will drink to Happiness!
Ochana raised the cup, and emptied it. Edith emptied her cup as well.
Ochana felt dizzy. What a wonderful place! Then she noticed someone watching them. A man wearing strange clothes walked towards them!
- Edith, someone is coming, look behind you...! Who is he?
- Hello, be greeted! I saw your actions, I takes it for granted that you are both here with good intention?, the funny looking man said. He got green skin and a strange body figure.
- My name is Humperton Flock.
- Oh, what are you doing here?, Ochana asked, surprised that others were around.
- But this is my hideaway!
Edith did not quite know what to say. She whispered to Ochana: - Mom, is this the guy you just told me about?
- What guy, Ochana asked. - I have no idea who he is.
- But you just told me about Mr. Flock...
- Never heard that name before, Ochana said. Edith gave her a strange look.
- What do we do, mom?
- No idea, Edith. I don't even know where we are. Can we please just go back home, if possible?
That final drink had erased all Ochana's knowledge regarding the Secret Mission. She had no clue, and she just wanted to hug Chad, eat some cake and watch TV.
