Dukes unveiling Noble Lodging Trust

[Current year 224] This week the Duke Jarret of Rossie and the Duke Aquess de Cavalier held a press brief at Meadows Gardens. A good bunch of educational involved persons and journalists attended.

Jarret Ross, the Duke of Rossie, started with some general facts about the new trust, that has been founded in order to help students with a better accommodation during their University years.
   - It's no secret that our gest is aimed towards children of noble standards, but when the capacity allows for it, the offer will of course be available to all students, regardless of heritage.

Basically the two Dukes have offered the Mossy Lodgers, Inc. owners to contribute with a good sum of money to upgrade and expand the existing Mossy Lane Dorm located at Gibbs Hill in Britechester, Rossie. One extra floor will be equipped this Summer, with two new spacious rooms, the Lady Suite and the Lord Suite, each with private bathrooms. The old rooms on 2nd floor will still be shared by two students, while the suites can be shared by an engaged couple or two siblings, if they insist.

Staying in the suites will cause a double fee per student, but this is up to the future students to decide, as the dorm is run by common economy that might change from term to term. The rent paid to Mossy Lodgers, Inc. has increased just a little, but will still be paid over the general bills.

In return the 2 dukes have been granted a total of 25% ownership, and these stocks are now transferred to the new Noble Lodgers Trust.

   - The idea is to reward students graduating with honor with ownership. Each student earning a graduation with honors, will be gifted 1% ownership, Duke Aquess de Cavalier said. - We want to hand out a total of 20%, to 20 future students. These students will of course be free to sell their stocks, or they can save them for later. The top 3 owners will become board members of the trust. From the start this new trust is owned by the Rossie Trust and the Brindleton Trust, but by giving out stocks, we also reduce our own ownership and control. When two owners hold the same amount of stocks, the oldest ownership will rank higher.

The duke finally explained that ownership will give the right to staying at Mossy Lane, regardless of floor, so the families owning the more stocks will avoid dorm queues for their children. This way today's students will be able to help their descendants - in theory for many generations to come.

Region 12 Councilor Victor F. Tangerin, leading the Science & Education dept., seemed to nod through most of the brief, indicating that this was already thoroughly discussed. Region 12 EDU, Inc. owned 40% of Mossy Lodgers, Inc. before the changes. The largest owner, Ground Up, Inc., has accepted too, but was not represented.

After the brief there was a round of Q&A.
- Jim Taffon, Sim City Times. It all sounds like a generous idea, but how much have your own children affected this all? You have a total of 7 children who will probably benefit from this more than others.

Duke Aquess de Cavalier replied that the next generation has of course affected the timing, but that the benefits will exist also after their graduations. Besides, his children have already been guaranteed a stay at Mossy Dorm, regardless of this new Trust.

Duke Jarret of Rossie added that his own four sons are still way too young to consider university lodging, but as both University of Britechester and Foxbury Institute are located in his district, it was quite natural helping this new trust on its feet. By the time my sons go to University, all 20% of the ownership might already be handed out and other houses may very well snap the available accommodation.

- Connard Swan, SimNation EDU TV. What about students doing well but graduating without honor.

Duke Aquesss de Cavalier said that they will simply not be awarded with anything from Noble Lodging Trust, but they can still have the benefit of staying in a noble suite, if available to them and they want to pay the suggested double rent.

- Jill Monson, San Myshuno Daily Tribute. Is it correct that the two of you are related, and that this will become some family trust?

Duke Jarret of Rossie explained that they both descend from Duke Clemet Augustin Ross of Rossie, but that Jarret's father being 2nd cousin to Duke Aquess de Cavalier is not what he would describe as close family. The two families always had a friendly tone, but I'm sure we won't agree on everything.

With this the attendees shared a good laugh and the meeting was ended.
