Welcome! :) On this blog you will find stories, how i play and videos created with The Sims 4, but also a few projects from older game versions can be found in the Archive. The old TS3 stories have their own blogs. Most long going stories have a main page with index of updates.

Check out Simmerville's Youtube channel!

I'm no longer on Tumblr! I refused to give all their 3rd parties unlimited access to my computer. Link still works, but no updates.

In-game Photo Challenge

Grab your camera and read on! I'll post a challenge because I just did it myself, and had some fun :)

This can be done in many ways, and you don't really need to follow my rules rigidly, as long as you end up with 9 large photos on your exhibition wall.

1. Your sim needs a camera, the most expensive might be needed in order to take the largest photos.

2. Your sim won't need photo skills to do this, but with adequate skills the challenge will be quicker and more compact.

3. Your goal is to travel to 3 different community lots, where you will get 3 large photos from each. Your sim will only travel and not move, so all motifs must be captures from the landing point! Afterwards you will gather your photo art on a wall - why not in a café or museum in your game for others to admire?

4. There is an extra touch to this challenge in the end, so make sure you read all before starting.

5. Your sim should visit all destinations within one day, or lets just say that your sim is not allowed to eat, drink, sleep or use a toilet until the challenge is completed. That should give you enough time :)

6. Now, travel to community lot 1 of your choice. Avoid lots where you rebuilt everything, it's more fun for other simmers to watch your result if they recognize the location. Then we can all try to guess where your sim went. If you adjusted slightly or added some clutter etc, that's okay. Also, make sure that your three lots are located in 3 different worlds. If you don't have 3 worlds, then at least in different hoods.

7. The photos can be of anything. The fun is to look around through the camera without moving. You can zoom, and you can tilt the camera up/down. You can use filters if you think that is more your style, but plain will be just fine, too. If your sim is skilled, add to the challenge by allowing only 5 photos on each location. With low skills there is a certain chance of gnomes and thumbs, and you should allow your sim to capture 10-15 photos per location. Remember to take several photos of the same motif if your sim is real bad at photography (or cheat the skill to 2 or 3, this is not a photo quality contest anyway. If you hang around for a while NPCs will arrive and they might be good or fun models. If you hang around remember to turn off free will - if your sim moves you must travel again.

8. After repeating 6. & 7. on 3 locations, travel back home to sort out your photos. Keep only 3 photos from each location in your sim's inventory.

9. Travel to a  museum, gallery or café etc, where there is a wall for your exhibition. You need only 3-4 floor tiles, and it looks better if the wall is neutral. Hang your 9 photos on the wall (3 x 3) in random order. Frame them if you like.

10. Take a screenshot of your wall, click the tab key to enter camera mode to get in the better close up position. If too far away it will be harder for us to see!

11. Now we will all guess what lot/hood your sim visited. I'm sure there will be plenty of motives not revealing much, but knowing there are 3 x 3 might help us. And hopefully you left in something that we will recognize, not only a close up of your sim's shoes or a NPC's nose :)

12. Now, here is a way to make it a bigger challenge for the viewers. At one destination you allowed your sim to walk a bit off the landing point to find one of the motives. Not just 2 steps, but more like 20 floor tiles to catch something that can not be captured from the landing. You don't need to do this, if you do please state when you post your gallery wall picture, that there is one walk-off motif, and we might try to find it :)

13. Have fun!

14. To save yourself some time, you can take plain photos and add filters after choosing your 9 entries. You don't need to frame your photos, I just thought is was more fun showing them on an in-game wall, but you can make a collage in PhotoShop if that is your thing.

Click here to post your result in the thread on the official sims forum.

And here's my result:

Do you recognize some of the lots?
