Welcome! :) On this blog you will find stories, how i play and videos created with The Sims 4, but also a few projects from older game versions can be found in the Archive. The old TS3 stories have their own blogs. Most long going stories have a main page with index of updates.

Check out Simmerville's Youtube channel!

I'm no longer on Tumblr! I refused to give all their 3rd parties unlimited access to my computer. Link still works, but no updates.

Growing Together: Astronomy?

I double checked the Growing Together EP trailer to look for any hints of Astronomy. Simmers have pointed out that there are many items hinting to such a theme, and some even questioned whether there will be some alien improvement with the March 16th release.

So, what did I find?

In what looks like a child bedroom wall decal (above), we see a periscope, a planet, a microscope and a blue science sample glass. Oh, and a book. And the Painter's color palette, which feels wrong in here. Obviously a set of skill building and school objects, with a main focus on science and astronomy.

In the background (above picture), you see the UFO abducting a llama. It's another reference to space for sure. Were San Sequoia visited by aliens in the past?

In the left side background we see what I think might be a new dolls house - designed like a space craft. It could also be a new school project, but it looks too large for that.

The infant thing above (not sure what it is called) has what looks like yellow/orange planets with stripes a la Jupiter. I'm not sure this was intended, but those balls do remind of planets. Also, the spotted top of the infant frame reminds a bit of life on a distant planet - or perhaps it's just meant to be an octopussy?

Above we see the infant will also have planets hanging above the crib. This time it is a clear reference to the solar system.

There are only 3 planets, and a space ship.

Not sure whether San Sequoia infants (and their parents) are more focused on planets than RL infants, but unless this is just one of many variants where the astronomy theme is random, it must mean there is a local culture with a focus on the universe and science involving astronomy?

Finally, who would think of a tree hut as a space craft? There might be numerous alternatives, but the pictured version is decorated with a rather big UFO. Also, the child obviously plays Astronaut, which is nice. Finally, I spotted a red-ish thing that looks like a meteor or space rock, but this might be an "imagination" image swirling around the child while playing Astronaut.

Well, there are indeed numerous astronomy hints coming with this pack, but all of them are geared towards children, so I think it's just another theme for a child's room, rather than  a new profession. Besides, we do already have the possibility to become an Astronaut in the game (I think the career was there from the very start). But - it could be a hint to the following pack, which might be an "out-of-this-world" pack with a bigger location than Sixam (Get To Work)? Yes, we have Batuu, but we can't liver there, or?

Still - this added theme might make me build a space center in San Sequoia. Scientists and Astronauts can operate it, and it can also be a Space Museum. I might need to come up with some local storyline to understand why Astronomy is a part of this place's common memory...
