President Wilder reveals Royal Act

(Year 230, Summer) This morning the People Chamber was informed that HRH King Tarriot has issued a new Royal Act to address the conflict between His Majesty and Church of Similius. President Wilde informed the 21 members of The People Chamber, but they will not handle the act until after Summer.

The act is titled "State Church's number of seats at People Chamber" and the essence is that a state church that is not interested in adjusting to our adjusted community, can not keep 2 reserved seats at the People Chamber, seats that they don't even need support to occupy.

A Royal Act is issued by the Monarch, but must be approved by all three chambers; The Royal Chamber, The People Chamber and The High Court. This proposed act suggests that Church of Similius keeps just 1 of its 2 seats with effect from the Year 235 election. Before that election we will probably have a regional reform which might also affect the election. Getting this out of the way this early might be a clever move by His Majesty. Having 20 seats up for political elections might even make a difference that turns out to be a game changer - or will the 21th seat simply be removed?

The 21 Seats are currently shared between RIGHT Party (10), LEFT Party (7), MIDDLE Party (2) and Church of Similius (2).

President and RIGHT Party's Leader:
Rob Wilder (69)

- The RIGHT Party is against those 2 seats from the start, it would serve the people better if all 21 seats were electable. A state church might be fine, but there are better ways to cooperate and to discuss community matters, than to reserve seats.

Still, I'm sure some of our members might se individual reasons for sticking to traditions. I might ask them to vote for the new act, though. I guess I will need a little time to think this over.

Vice President and LEFT Party's Leader:
Fanny Silverbone (70)

- LEFT Party wants Church of Similius to keep their seats, there could be some voting involved for them as well, but basically it is easier to debate the gender conflict with them in the Chamber, than elsewhere. We might cause more damage by reducing the arenas for dialogue.

I am all for that they will need to adjust their old view on women, it almost feels a bit like the Empire of Snorthia! The only true reason why men and women can not be equally valued, is that some men would need to hand over some of their power.

The claim has been made very clear by King Tarriot, so I believe the carousel has started regardless of Church of Similius keeps 1 or 2 seats in the future.

Middle Party's Leader
Rebekah Starks (43)

- MIDDLE Party has no politics on religion, but we do fight for equality and against all kinds of discrimination. So, I think we do support the new Royal Act. It's still early days, an we might still find it conflicting with our point of diversity and different voices.

Surveys reveal that women are much more concerned with environmental questions, than men are. I think Church of Similius could have been a light house for the ECO movement if they allowed female priests. I heard they don't even allow their wives to wear shoes, simply because it is not needed in order to walk? There is no way we can support such old routines. It's a pity, because we do love their "don't consume more than required" approach! Well, those Priests rarely attend our People Chamber meetings, anyway.

High Priest Church of Similius:
Ansgar Profedius (66)

- We have no comment at this point. Church of Similius had 2 seats on The People Chamber for a total of 90 years.

There is a lot of debating to be done, and hopefully we will be able to look forward when all involved understand the importance of and truth in our statements.
