(Year 234, Spring) Ministry of Science & Education is currently debating a better national routine for education aimed towards young adults and older. Both elementary and secondary students already have options including privat schools - including boarding schools, in addition to the free national school system. We also have university and institutes which are popular for career specializing, but normally takes 4 years to complete. Now the time has come for grown-ups who want building a single skill in a less formal setting. Ministry of Science & Education will focus on venues for learning specific skills, covering personal interests and beyond.
While the target group will be grown-ups, many teenagers will also find this interesting, especially those in need of building certain skills to be accepted for a chosen private high school. Many teenagers have hobbies, too.
Ministry of Science & Education wants all 8 regional Recreation Centers to provide classes, either at the center, if possible, or in cooperation with private mentors providing the needed facilities. Lectures require a teacher with minimum level 5 skill, but the number of students per lecture is flexible, meaning the activity itself won't require much space. The typical lecture area will be limited to 11x8 floor tiles, which would include any skill related equipment.

- After preparing the ground over severel years already, we are very excited to have this started next year, says Minister of Science & Education, Emma R. Golden (63). - We would like to start with both career and hobby related skills, but there will also be some general topics fo the homemaker, like Cooking and Baking, with reference to the Foodies Unite N.A.P. being active in many districs. For now, the small businesses and private schools will take care of crafts and other equipment depending skills, while our Recreation Centers will focus on skills requiring less equipment.
But there is a challenge that can not be solved over night.
- We depend on teachers, or new system of National Mentors. While parts of Mazaloom's population is well skilled, few are top skilled. Thanks to the annual Achievent reward, honoring residents who obtained top skills, we signalized the focus on Mentors some years ago, already.
Anyone with a skill of minimum level 5 can give a Lecture, but it takes even more to become a National Mentor. Among those who maxed their skill we will appoint one National Mentor for each of the more common skills. This routine is intended to encourage more residents to max their knowledge within certain fields.
The new Lecture routine kicks off with the following approved national Mentors:
Logic: Mrs Corinne Dougham (69), region Gloom
Charisma: Penny Pizzazz (55), region San Myshuno
Gemology: Baroness Erica of Prome (71), region Gloom
Cooking: Tommy Rash (54), region San Myshuno
Baking: Anila Rossell (72), region San Myshuno
Comedy: Mehdi Mandir (75), region Gloom
Pipe organ: Vladislaus Straud (66), region Rossie
Painting: Vince Remerez (75), region San Myshuno
National Mentors will not get paid per Lecture, but will receive §1,000 annually from the state, for providing this service. They have accepted to provide lectures in any region, not just their own, but due to travels most will naturally focus on their own region.
While Lectures can be attended at Recreation Centers for free, residents can also attend classes at certain businesses and schools, and you might even contact a Mentor as a private initiative. Skills depending on specific equipment (i.e. Pottery, Tattooing, Gemeology, Nectar making etc.) will still be provided by Classes at small businesses. The system of classes, lectures and mentors will be evaluated in five years.
The new routine shall be up and going from Year 234.
