People Chamber: Ministry of Science & Education

(Year 234, Spring) This is the final part of the brief introductions to the 5 ministries of People Chamber, following the Election Y230 results. The ministries cover Law & Justice, Trades & Taxes, Culture & Entertainment, Health & Welfare, and finally Science & Education. With 5 ministries and each electional period being 5 years, we have introduced one ministry per year on this blog. This is not a random thing, because each of those 5 years one ministry will have a bigger focus, and in Year 234 People Chamber will focus a little extra on community matters within Science and Education. It's a good thing not needing to cover all fields constantly, but whatever needs attention will of course be given focus by People Chamber, no matter of focus of the year.

So, here is the current members of Ministry of Science & Education!

The ongoing electional period did already have some focus on education by establishing the Old Penelope Military School (a boarding high school focusing on fitness and disciplin, located in StrangerVille), but that also involved Ministry of Law & Justice, where military naturally sorts. With a well working existing system of boarding schools on high school level, and both University of Britechester and Foxbury Institute running just fine, education might get less attention this year. Instead, science seems to hold numerous subjects for debate and possibly actions. But then something suddenly changed.

Minister of Science & Education, Emma R. Golden (64), explains that a new case appeared from nowhere.

- At a recent meeting in Snorthia, a plan was made for taking down the long going conflict. One element was a new student exchange program. Previously Empire of Snorthia did not want to send students abroad, probably to avoid Mazaloomian influence, and we did not request access to Snorthian schools either. Kingdom of Sea has no higher education system because of their different set of values, so at this point they are not part of the exchange program. This will affect the university and institute, and we will need to deside on a framework for the program.

But there is also numerous aspects involving science.

- It was desided that a new national botanical garden will be established, and a call for initiatives was already announced. Assisted by Mazaloom Garden Society, we will work on this project this year. Next election is less than a year ahead, and who knows what change of priorities that will cause, so our goal is that the botanical garden shall open this year, hopefully in Fall.

This ministry has 4 members:

Emma (Ratchild) Golden (64) BIO
Elected for Region 3 Tredony, represents RIGHT party. She is married to Principal of The Butler Academy (Del Sol Valley), making it hard to focus on that school this period.

Politically Ratchild belongs to the "Speak for the Trees" fraction. She is seen as very intellectual and a bit old-fashioned. Minister Golden has been working for Ministry of Science & Education since Year 215, and might run for another 5 years.

Knox Greenburg (43) BIO
Elected for Region 12 Mazaloom, which later was split into regions 5 San Myshuno, 8 Gloom, and a bit even merged with region 7 Advorton. He resides in Evergreen Harbor, so his dedication is stronger in today's region Gloom. He represents MIDDLE party.

Politically Greenburg belongs to the "Speak for the Trees" fraction. With a modern mindset he will often focus on modern esthetics.

Bianca Sterner (59) BIO
Elected for Region 4 Crafthole, represents LEFT party. She resides in Copperdale with partner and 2 daughters, one of those from her previous marriage with Mr Mortimer Goth. Sterner is not a professional Politician, but works as a Jeweller.

Politically Sterner belongs to the "No Sims Left Behind" fraction. She is into modern estehical solutions, but has been criticized for focusing too much on impressive deco. Her greatest political engagement includes animals and pet welness.

Jurton Summerton Mester Foxbury (47) BIO
Elected for Region 2 Rossie, represents LEFT party. He is the current Principal of Foxbury Institute and resides on campus with wife and 3 children.

Politically Summerton belongs to the "No Sims Left Behind" fraction. He prefers a traditional community, and focus more on Education than Science.

From the Year 235 Election People Chamber will be organized slightly different. With one seat less reserved Church of Similius and one additional seat at the chamber, there will now be a total of 22 seats, including 4 seats per ministry + Prime Minister + the 1 representative from Church of Similius (the only seat not elected, but reserved). It means that the 5 ministries will have 4 seats each incl. their Minister. The President will no longer be the Minister of Law & Justice, or any other ministry, but will just lead the Cabinet where Prime Minister is joined by the 5 ministers. These adjustments might seem minor, but will make for a better system.
