(Year 234, Spring) This year it's 75 years since the old Estate von Haunt opened its doors as a museum, after a thorough renovation following the Year 98 fire. The building, worthy of a royal, did serve as the Lord von Haunt's estate for nearly a century, but is today owned by Mazaloom Historical Museum.
The day is packed with local events, and because this place holds a strong position in most Windenburgers' hearts, the large crowds are expected. Before the official opening a few prominant persons gathered for some photos, a private tour and a few last minute adjustments. They are not worried about the weather, come rain or sun!
Mrs Nancy Roxenfox (67) is the Manager of Mazaloom Historical Museum. She has been directly involved with the planning, and so has the Historical Society's motor, Mila Munch (80).
- The build represents a unique epoque, Mrs Roxenfox explains. - The grand expression including the fantastic outdoors, more than indicates that Lord von Haunt was a very important person.
- Or, he wanted to be, Mila Munch adds. - The estate was built Year 3-4, and he got his peerage in Year 3, already. His House von Shallot was originally Hunters, and it's not really clear why he was granted the title, or why he did not settle with a smaller estate. Only kings and dukes had somewhat impressive estates back in those days. A lord was actually below the barons, and today we don't even understand how the peerage could have a Lord title, only, because that is not really a level of nobility, they were all lords. Haunt is still a mystery, and I guess that's why we love it so much!
- In the beginning Hunt Estate (yes, the name changed after the fire) was the master house of the Hunt Farm, Munch explains. - Back then Hunt was its own district together with Granite Falls, not merging with Windenburg until Year 40. And following the tragic fire in Year 98, there was no more descendants from House von Shallot, and no more Hunt Estate, so Dresden Haus, previously the Farmer house of Hunt Farm, became the new Master house. That's how the current House von Fyres became masters.
Indoors and ready for a private guided tour before the official program opens, the group gathered in the hall, outside the old kitchen.
King Tarriot is the patron of the Mazaloom Historical Museum, and he met Mrs Roxenfox many times before.
Mazaloom Historical Museum owns and operates numerious museums all over the nation. Their expressed goal is to serve one location in each of the eight regions.

And the Duke (82) and Duchess (48) von Windenburg are often seen at historical anniversaries of their region.
- My legs were not interested in leaving the island this morning, the Duke laughed. - Right now, I wonder if they will work long enough to bring me back home.
The public program includes guided tours, a classical concert in the pavillion, vegetable canning with old recipes in the kitchen garden, a quiz for everyone and the annual Maze Race for all ages.
Let's hope the sun will break through!
