The boys, Aquid and Davitor, are already teenagers. They help catching fish and growing food. The girls, Animere and Shimmerita, are still kids, but will soon grow up.
They moved the huge firepit from the southern beach, to a tiny field on the north side. On calm days they sit there the hour before sunset, to discuss past, present and future. They call it «court garden»
Shimmerita is the youngest. She is fascinated by the huge shells they can find on the beaches, occasionally. She also loves to study wildlife, like the small green birds. Animere is more focused on being the only one with human legs. When she grows older, she won't be able to swim with a fishtail, like her siblings.
The family often spends time on the southern beach. That's where Hope and Rasmus stayed before the house was built.
All of them, except Animere, need to go for a swim daily, or their scales will get too dry.
Finally, Animere becomes a teenager like her brothers. Hope doesn't want to make any difference, so she goes for a long swim with Animere, even if she doesn't need to learn how to use the fishtail. Animere gets a pair of flippers for her birthday.
Hope appreciates their time alone out in the ocean, even if Animere is constantly looking out for sharks. Sharks never touch the mer people, but how would they know that Animere is related?
Suddenly a black creature hits the surface not far from them!
It's someone from the Mudder group! The mer people group that has been grabbing most of the area, pushing the little group that Hope once belonged to, Mersea group, farther south. Hope doesn't recognize the black merman, she tells Animere to stay calm. The Mudder guy goes underwater again, and is not seen again.
The Mudder group is evil, and Hope realizes it's time she tells it all to her children. She finds it better to wait until the yongest, Shimmerita, becomes a teenager, as well. She doesn't want to scare Shimmerita.
Time goes by, the garden expands, and the kids all learn a few skills.

Aquid loves to tend the garden, and Animere likes to study some books. None of them have ever heard of school, but what they need to learn on this tiny island, Hope Terra, will of course be easily gained from practice.
Hope tries to teach them to like vegetables. She fears that the fish in the sea might one day get polluted, and although the mer people mostly like to eat fish, it will help if they can live on vegetables and fruits instead.
Animere loves the food, while the others prefer the fish meals. Aquid, who grew most of the food, eats it but he doesn't really like it all.
Hope tells them about the toxics and the sea ground. Aquid and Davitor already joined her to Mersea North, where most plants are dead. Animere will probably not be able to dive that deep, and Shimmerita is too young.
Aquid is a little worried too. He loves the garden, and he already chose the Perfect Garden aspiration. But the sea worries him, he thinks there is something that their mother has not told yet. And he is right about that.
Occasionally the four kids play around on the southern beach without Hope watching them. They collect stuff, they swim and they might even get contact with teens from the mer people!
On this day there are 3 mer people teens visiting. They are brilliant swimmers, and they like to play in the waters with Aquid and Davitor.
They can't communicate though, and it feels like they belong to two different worlds, although both the boys do grow a fishtail while swimming. Aquid likes the blond girl with the lovely blue scales. He has no idea what her name is. The black haired boy's face obviously got wounded, if he wasn't attacked by a shark, who caused it?
Animere and Shimmerita always wait on the beach while the boys swim with the mer people teens. The girl waves to Aquid, and he really wish he could talk with her!
