Baroness Rose

You already met her in the first two seasons of the video series As Sims Go By, but being married to the high nobility Baron of Gloom, Baroness Rose often went unmentioned. In public she was always reckognized as the model looking, fashion oriented and creative woman that she is and also her work brought her some fame. Now that a new generation is preparing to take over this barony, it might be time to give her some attention.

Her full name is Rose (Welder) von Kaching, and she is currently 77. She is known as a materialistic snob, sometimes quite hot-headed. A long life was lived, and these days her position as a baroness is coming to an end as her son Edward will officially take over the barony next year. Rose and Bud might leave Umbrage Manor to their son this year already. The retirement has been an issue for a few years already, but certain rules delayed the plan. There can only be one high nobility investiture per region per year. Last year it was Baron Auphor of Verde, this year it will be Baron Reinart of Myshuno. Next year seems to be when Bud and Rose's only son, Lord Edward, finally becomes the next Baron of Gloom.

Originally the Gloom barony was on the hands of the House of Brixerwood, which expired. The Gloom barony was then inherited by Bud's father Esmonds Ching Lord Mugger, who at the time was poor, sick and nectarized. He took too long to even open the letter telling him that he was first in line of successors, and he died before the investiture was to take place. Therefore, year 184 his son Bud became the next Baron of Gloom as well as Baron of Gibbs. Baroness Rose followed her husband as they moved from SimCity to Upperton in Gloomville, and aged 34 she embraced her Baroness title with grace. She enjoy hosting gala dinners, and she is a very outgoing person in general.

Beside supporting the baron, Rose has been The Allocades' Patron since year 190, not having been replaced despite her high age might say something about her status within the creatives. a patronage that it might be time to give up.

She dedicated her life to arts. She is a decent painter herself, but the greater focus was put into her Gallery ExPo, located at Crestville in Newcrest and originally a gift from her husband to "keep her busy" while he tended to his investments. Baron Bud was even a Councilor for a period. However, Rose's hobby quickly turned into a decent business. Nowadays the gallery is less busy, but still sells various crafted goods, but mainly paintings. Also the famous portrait painter Vince Remeréz was involved with the gallery for a period, both selling his own works and running classes, mostly at the time while he rented a room at Umbrage Manor. Aged 66 Rose was honored with the exclusive Order of the Golden Lion for her work with a cross regions artistic network. Baroness Rose is also the Leader of club Artistic Muses.

Her other great interests are wellness and of course her little dog, Simelangelo. It's quite old as it was a member of the house already when they moved from SimCity to Gloomville in year 184 - which adds up to more than 43 years! Rose got a puppy after their neighbor, the constantly "wanna be part of top society" Constanza Bootwig, secretly mated her own dog with Simelangelo - obviously in order to build social status from claiming a relation to the barony.

The future of this household looks to be interesting. House von Kaching is a small one, Rose and Bud have two adult children, but their main heir Lord Edward is still only engaged. Their daughter Lady Aili resides in Oasis Springs, married to Malcolm Landgraab Lord Cacti and they have 3 young sons. The boys are all in line of successors to both the high nobility Gloom barony, the low nobility Gibbs barony, and the noble title Lord/Lady Mugger. But Ailis sons will not be a future head of the von Kaching house, as long as they are Landgraabs. Baron Bud's sister, Paula Ching Lady Mugger, currently stays at Umbrage Manor, but will move into Bon Voyage Retirement Home this Summer, to give space for Lord Edward's future household. Paula has no children, so all her assets will probably go to Bud's heirs. The siblings Bud and Paula each owns 50% of the family holding company, Ching Inc., which might now partly come on the hands of the Landgraabs. The inheritance from Bud and Paula will indeed be interesting, but there might still be a couple years until actions need to be taken, and none of this will affect Baroness Rose. Umbrage Manor is owned by the Gloom Trust, but the mentioned Ching, Inc, Gallery ExPo and the hamburger restaurant Civic Cliff, also in Newcrest, are all good values, not to mention the two baronies and the Mugger noble title.

This Summer Lord Edward will marry Lady Merielle de Cavalier, and then there will hopefully be children in the house again. He will get access to the Gloom Trust, but he can only get 75% of his parents' private values, while the remaining 25% is the minimum that his sister Aili will get. We'll not know details until Bud von Kaching's testament is revealed in the future, but it is expected that Edward will get as much as the law allows for.
