(Britechester, Rossie Year 226) This year was the 100th anniversary of University of Britechester, and festivities were arranged all year long. Here are just a few pictures from a ceremony arranged at the UBrite Commons, Darby's Den this Fall, with a small group of guests enjoying speeches, a history lesson and refreshments.
Previously this year, there were a wide range of contests and celebrations involving students as well as professors. Some related to specific classes, but also a series of history quests involving the many old buildings.
University of Britechester is the oldest university around - not located in Region 12, but in Region 11's Rossie district. The foundation can be linked to the fact that the founder, Felix Psyded, was given the noble title Lord Britechester. Unfortunately his son never married, so the family name expired, and so did the title. On a side note, the same noble title was introduced for the most involved family at Foxbury Institute, House of Summerton, which is still around.
Duke Jarret of Rossie held a n interesting speech brilliantly connecting the past and the future. Jarret Ross has been University of Britechester's patron since year 212, and he graduated 23 years ago. On the "wall of fame" above the duke, hang portraits of some of the students who achieved a degree with honors. We recognize both Jarret and his younger brother Bennet (Baron of Shiningham), as well as Duke Victus of Meadows.
* Bud von Kaching is mainly Baron of Gloom, but he also holds the Gibbs barony, remotely.
