(Brindleton Bay, Year 227) Servants normally get replaced without a lot of fuss. They serve their master and might get publicly noticed only if they cause major failures or ground breaking rumors. But it is different when Emma (Harris) Sherwood (81) must leave Chateau Cavalier due to her high age.
Mrs Sherwood, called Emma by all these high nobility household members, has become more than a servant. She started her castle cook career 14 years ago. Then she lived at Whiskerman's Wharf as a widow with no children. Moving to Chateau Cavalier was like getting her second family, she once expressed.
Last week it was time for her to retire. For the full evening she was celebrated by the entire household. The now young adult children of the house adore her, and gladly travelled back home for this occasion.
Emma is still with good health, but decided to accept the offer to join the Old-Duke and Old-Duchess as they moved to Hindquater Manor for their retirement. Emma will still assist them in the kitchen and the garden, a Cook, but at a much lesser scale and in agreement with the retiring couple she will be admitted to take as much time off as she wants.
Hindquarter Manor is private property of Old-Duke Aquess de Cavalier, and has been used to house visitors or occasionally as a short term residence for any member of the House de Cavalier. It is where Claudine ran her awarded gardening project, and the garden is still a main reason why they leave Chateau Cavalier. The manor is expected to be inherited by their main heir.
Their oldest son , Charlopold Demitris, recently took over the Cavalier dukedom. Arrangements have already been made for a new Castle Cook who will replace Emma immediately: Klaira von Donnersmalt (72). It is not yet known how the famous castle garden will fare without the Old-Duchess and Emma, who both put considerable amount of time and efforts into the garden terraces, for both visuals and harvests.
