(Y227) Cottage Living comes with lots of new animals and produce, and my online residents registry had to be upgraded with some of the new content. Farm Rights were updated (although the system is being looked into on request by the MIDDLE party), but even more interesting is that HOUSEHOLD INFO has been added to each personal bio-page.
Politician Fanny Silverbone has her hands full at home - 2 cows, chicken coop, and more than 30 produce plants. Plenty of chores for herself and hubby George, and their 2 children, 3 dogs and 1 cat! |
In the past each bio page was including personal stuff only, but now you will see all members of the household with name/age if you point at their mini icon, and link to their personal bio page for more info if you click the icon.
Household
Seeing the entire household gathered gives more info than I expected. It makes a difference seeing that they are only 1 or 2 sims, or a household of 8, what animals they have, and if the grow something commercially. This Fall there might be a new household index, too!
Live-in Servants are included, but it was too much work including their job title or split them from the main household, so you need to check their bio page for details on their position. Some Butlers can easily be spotted as they wear their uniform on the icon.
Household members are mostly sorted by age, but not always, and the main member is not necessarily listed first. Pointing their icons to see their names and age often gives an idea who's the boss :)
Cats and dogs are not yet registered, and I don't know if they will ever be.
Farm Rights
All Farm Rights held by a lot will now be shown on the bio page of all members of that household. Many households grow something without having a Farm Right, so this info isn't really giving the full details. Basically, having a Farm Right indicates that the household grows around 10 plants of that specie, and they are obliged to deliver produce, so their gardening is on a higher level. Others might grow a smaller mixed quantum for their own consume.
With the new farming possibilities it's finally legit having Farm Rights such as Milk and Egg delivery :).
Farm Rights tie to the lot, and they are also listed on the right section of the bio page, but only for the owner of the lot. There you'll find additional info like when that sim achieved the responsibility to each right.
Farm animals
Also cows, llamas and chickens are now listed per household (left column). In the right side section they will be listed under the household member in charge, only. I figured being in charge of animal care ought to be seen as a valuable experience, and is worth being listed as a form of education/training (right under Career).
With so many new activities I keep more detailed notes in my spreadsheet - not all those details are shared on the online registry. If a household owns a cow, one household member must be assigned with responsibility of caring for it. Same if they have gardening/Farm Rights, Bee hives and Preserving etc. I also note who might assist them, and often teens (and children) might help out. It's useful when I rotate between households quickly finding who shall milk the cow, who shall build relations with the chickens etc. Of course, other household members do step in occasionally.

The household info might get improved further, but right now I think it's time to actually spend more time with the households, rather than programming :)
