(Year 128) This week Dominic Fyres, Lord of Deadgrass and Lord von Dresden (79), announced that his son-in-law, Dr. Nivert Hump was given the courtesy title Lord von Haunt.
House von Fyres gathered for a dinner at Dresden House to formalize it all. But first a few words about this young man, Mister Kalic Fyres (8).
Kalic is the only person who can bring on the successes of this House! He has 3 older sisters, Siobhan (45), Morgan (35) and Ailis (12), and they could all be the next Head of House von Fyres - if it was not for the three peerages involved. All of those peerages require a male successor. Traditionally the higher peerage is on the hands of the Head of House - it's simply strategically wiser to gather the power when possible. The challenge will be that current Head, Dominic Fyres will probably be gone long before Kalic can take over 17 years from now.
On the wall behind the boy you see the banners with symbols representing Lord von Haunt, Lord von Dresden and Lord of Deadgrass.
House von Fyres go all the way back to Year 44. All those generations ran the Dresden House farm, still focusing on growing Grapes for the local nectar production and some export. The current household is also into nectar making, but these days also produce milk, eggs and whatever a large greenhouse filled with fruits and herbs can provide. Windenburg has no Farm Rights restrictions, like Region 12 has.
Dominic handles the milk production and the bee hives, as well as Nectar production which is still their main goal. Pictured above is the cow Milkshake being milked.
Moira, Lady of Dresden (74) tends the greenhouse and the chickens, besides using some of the produce for flower arrangements and food preserves - mostly for their own use. Both adult daughters moved out years ago, but Ailis and Kalic are old enough to help cleaning the animal sheds.
House von Fyres' skill focus is Mixology, which means that all Central members are expected to build this particular skill. Their achievement is checked by the Royal Chamber occasionally, and shall meet certain skill levels on average. Right now their average score is rather poor, because daughter Morgan, who is very well skilled on the subject, moved to House of Sax-Donnersmalt and therefor is only a Secondary relation of House von Fyres.
Well, back to that dinner party!
The main occasion was to celebrate Dr. Nivert Hump (55) as the new Lord von Haunt. The old Haunt peerage is still held by Dominic and House von Fyres, but Dominic Fyres is not allowed to personally hold more than 1 peerage per level. Haunt is same level as Lord von Dresden, so one of them had to go to other hands (should have been done ages ago...). Nivert married daughter of the house, Siobhan, and because he just founded his own House of Hump, he is only Secondary relation of House von Fyres, despite connecting to Dominic through blood line, now that he and Siobhan got twins. Courtesy titles do not require Royal Chamber's approval, it's all up to Dominic. Unfortunately, it also means Nivert will not get his own framed approval to hang on his office wall.
The deal is that Nivert shall hold the title for lifetime, but Dominic or the one formally inheriting the Haunt peerage will of course be allowed to make changes at any time.
They were also joined by Lord and Lady von Dresden's daughter, Morgan (Fyres) Sax-Donnersmalt, Baroness of Verde. She is still 2nd in line of heirs to Dominic and Moira, and due to her interest in Nectar making she might be the one with the closest ties to this farm. She actually intended to run the place until Kalic grows up, but then she met her current husband, Baron Verde.
Moira, Lady von Dresden is less interested in those old peerages. She use her title when appropriate, but she prefers one family dinner like this over ten gala dinners. Next to her sits her youngest daughter Ailis (blond) and grandson David Fyres (9), the unlegit son of Siobhan. David was born with the white eyes syndrome, and was raised here at the countryside by his grandparents. Now that Siobhan finally married and had twins with her husband, David will move to live with his mother and stepfather in San Myshuno.
