(Year 232, Winter) Couple years ago, Year 230, a new private high school opened at StrangerVille Plaza, Old Penelope Military School. The lot is owned by Mazaloom Military Forces and serves as Operational Quarter including the office of Grand Marshal and more. The boarding school offer is in addition to other daily matters, and only a limited number of students are permitted.
On a rainy day of Fall a new term started, and a new student showed up: Bincky Tocker (18) from Chestnut Ridge. He did not need to travel far, but brought some belongings as this will be his new home for the coming 6 years.
At first, you might think of a Military School as a place where rather few chose to spend years of their lives. In the past, we recall students doing very poorly at school was sent off to military school. But, Old Penelope is different. This is a popular offer among teenagers who like to focus more on sports and work out than academic books. The disciplinary aspects of such a school will be a reasonable cost to most.
Old Penelope Military School was built on the land where a weirdo crashed his plane ages ago.
He was arrested and an agreement was made to make him stay away from this lot. Parts of his old plane, named after a woman he still loved, was kept, and also his secret underground cave is kept for historical reason, officially, while most sims within the military system assume the cave is kept for investigations.
It's hard to get accepted for this school. Not only is the group of students limited, but you must also be trusted to live on a military lot. A minimum interest in Fitness and Handiness is officially required, but also your family background will obviously be thoroughly checked.
There is a school fee of §4,000 to be paid on arrival, and in addition you will be expected to pay §1,000 to the students' household cash balance to cover upcoming bills and more. Students might need to contribute more eventually. So, this is a school that most poor families might not favor. There are exceptions, though, and if everything else fit the bill, your family finances will not have to be essential.
Bincky Tocker grew up at New Appaloosa in Chestnut Ridge. His family is a respected one, and his mother is currently having a seat at People Chamber for the RIGHT party. His has no aristocratic background, though.
On arrival, Bincky is greeted by Gran Marshal Robert Calves. Calves is head of Mazaloom Military Forces and his office is in this building. Bincky might never set foot in the office, but he will see Mr Calves again as he is administrating the military school and also teaches some classes.
Mr Robert Calves resides at Rider's Glen in Chestnut Ridge, so they both come from the same district, which is also in the same region as StrangerVille. Bincky might be allowed to visit his mother weekends, due to the short distance, but not during his 1st year in school anyway.
Then he is sent upstairs to get installed before the classes starts.
He claims a locker, and notices two other students. What, a girl? And oh, my, isn't that boy one of the princes?
Yes indeed!
HRH Prince Marcuz (17) was among the first students two years ago, despite being too young for the school. He is known to focus a lot on Fitness and the school obviously saw it as a bonus to have a prince joining on opening. Bincky might become friends with a royal! He can't wait to tell his mother!
Then Bincky claims a bed. Unfortunately they will all share one room! He really hopes none of the others will snore! Uhm, will the blond girl sleep in here, too? And what about Prince Marcuz, does he get his own suit somewhere, royal and all?
No, there exists no such suit. Students are seen as equal, hence the thorough security check to get approved for the study. Bincky will soon learn that there is also a young baron in his class, a boy who is raised to become a duke someday.
He got a seat on back row. He is not sure whether that is good or bad. At least he can hide behind the prince if he needs to yawn. Grand Marshal is very strict, and they learn about how the national military forces were organized.
And then they need to exercise for 2 hours! Bincky did not apply because he wants to become a body builder or Athlete later in life, but well, he can probably get used to this!
The school also offers numerous hobby activities. While classes focus on Fitness and Handiness skills, in the evenings Bincky can build a space rocket, play many games, contribute to growing vegetables for the household, and tend to the old rescued horse, Pine Nut.
Bincky is not new to Horse riding. His father, who died when Bincky was a little boy, was very much into horses, just like the Grand Marshal. However, as a widow Bincky's mother did not keep the equestrian focus. Pine Nut might become a nice break from all the exercises.
Then there is an inspection by Grand Marshal!
They need to wear their uniform correctly, and because they get no military grade as a teenager, the outfit is pretty dull and neither pointing at a specific military division. No medals, no ribbons! Saluting feels silly at first, but Bincky quickly gets the take of it.
Then, the evening can be used as they like. Students can stay at school to play games or work on their skills and personality values.
Or they can travel to practice skiing or rock climbing, which is encouraged by the school. Right now there would be major problems going to Mt. Komorebi due to the ongoing cultural conflict with Empire of Snorthia. There are rumors that the school might invest in a new climbing wall.
So, will Bincky Tocker like his new situation? Will he make a royal friend, or will they all fight over the only female student, Fiona Stone?
Will he aim and score well at his goal for a better high school education?
Only the future will tell. His first day just ended.
