Nestor Wallort is dead

(Year 234, Spring) Yesterday the Nestor of Church of Similius' monastery at Windenburg Isle died, aged 96. Wallort Rose grew up in Ciudad Enamorada, but lived most of his life at the Monastery. Aged 39 he became a Monk, and 19 years later he got the Nestor position, which is the highest position within the monastery.

The monastery normally is home to 4-6 monks, they are focusing on Wellness, Thanatology and Singing, while being prepared for a position as a future Priest. One Monk will have the title Aspiring Nestor, preparing to replace the Nestor, eventually.

Nestor Wallort died suddenly while the group was outside to prepare the garden for a new season. He leaves behind no life heir, but being a Monk means you have very limited belongongs, anyway...

Today his funeral took place in the Similius Cathedral at Windenburg's oldtown. High Priest Ansgar had plenty to say about the deceased, they worked closely for several decades. New Priests come from the monastery, often trained by the Nestor, and this recruiting is of high importance to the church's organization.

Monks are not very public, so Nestor Wallort was not well known in Windeenburg. He was recognized for singing while hunting mushrooms in the forest, but probably never observed by the majority.

The cathedral was basically occupied by Monks, a couple Priests and a handful locals including the club Friends of Church of Similius.

Nestor Wallort, born Wallort Rosa and of extinct House of Rosa, was not without relatives. He grew up in Ciudad Enamorada, and today his late brother's three children reside in Ciudad Enamorada, Windenburg and Tartosa. Priest Benjaminus who was ordained for the Tredony parish last year, is Nestor Wallort's nephew. Jade Rosa, member of High Court, is his niece. And the last one, a nephew, resides at the family estate in Ciudad Enamorada.

He was a man loving the outdoors, so ending his days while planning the mushroom harvest must have been a decent way to go.

After the memorial service his grave was moved to the Monastery. He is the 6th Nestor to be buried outside the northern wall of the monastery. The old saying says that the world will collapse when the line of graves is completed, assumingly when the 10th Nestor was buried. Four more to go!

The Aspiring Nestor, Hippold Grape (81), will now step up as Nestor Hippold. Elevius Dipperwell (61), brother of current Priest Antonius of the Gloom parish, now becomes the new Aspiring Nestor. There is normally no investiture mass for these monastery changes.
