(Year 234, Spring) The culture conflict between Mazaloom kingdom and Empire of Snorthia has been ongoing for a couple years. It all started by Miss Patricia Maiden revealing that the Snorthian historical painting and cultural national treassure, in fact was a portrait of Miss Maiden's mother, the long gone actress Limia (Oceanus) Maiden. In other words the motif was not as old as Snorthia claimed. The Emperor accused Mazaloom to have offended Snorthia deeply, and from there it all escaled. One example is that the Snorthian borders were closed to foreigners, and Mazaloomian atheletes were not allowed to enter the Snorthian Winter Games. We also saw that Patricia Maiden was taken hostage by Snorthia.
This week an international meeting took place in Mt. Komorebi, Snorthia.

Both Prime Minister Rob Wilder (73) and Grand Marshal Robert Calves (64) attended as the Mazaloom kingdom's representatives. While the conflict was not completely solved, the meeting helped descaling the negative impacts, and most important to many residents - the border is again open.
Details from the debates are not official, but a few pictures were leaked. Many would say they were leaked intentionally, as Snorthia prefer keeping up with the impression of a strict community and less transparency.

The meeting was obviously attended by the two representant from Mazaloom, a total of 5 representatives of Snorthia, including the Emperor's oldest son, and the national council consisting of 3 men from protected families.
The most interesting headlines for us, will be:
Miss Patricia Maiden, who was held "hostage" in Snorethia for nearly a year, has now returned to Mazaloom. She is isolated in an apartment in Ciudad Enamorada while being medically examned. The apartment is owned by the Mazaloom friendly Moon Rapfelder, who holds the only peerage still active in Snorthia. He and his wife have many friends in Mazaloom's aristocracy. Miss Maiden is the Royal Chief Attendant, being among King Tarriot's most trusted employees. She was not replaced while gone, so she is expected to be back in her job shortly.
Border is no longer closed. Residents of Mazaloom kingdom can again travel to Empire of Snorthia! This means you can plan a vacation to Mt. Komorebi and Tomarang, like before. Snorthian people can travel from Snorthia to Mazaloom, too, although we do not know if there will be certain restrictions for them.
Trades will again flow between the two nations. Snorthia has announced there might be a few exceptions, but no such list has yet been announced.
Athletes can again take part in Winter Sports contests taking place in Mt. Komorebi.
Higher education in Mazaloom will accept students and professors from Empire of Snorthia. This will affect the University of Britechester and Foxbury Institute, but no high school.

The Emperor of Snorthia, Orchor Sloth. |
The Emperor showed no kindness during the meeting, so it is believed that most of the negoshiation was pushed by his national council, that was present.
Emperor Orchor (79) claimed Mazaloom to pay him 500 Rubies, but this was replaced by the higher education deal, which he found interesting.
The meeting lasted for 8 hours. The picture below was taken before they got started.

The three members of Snorthia's council are the heads of 3 protected families. They function as the Emperor's advisors, a position that is life long. When a dead member shall be replaced, all the protected families will debate the replacement. The three members rank by age.
There is a reason why the Emperor is seated in the background. In Snorthian culture it is disrespectful to not include the full body and aura when photographing (or painting) a person, and this goes for the Emperor in particular. In the picture above both the Emperor and his son are fully included (although partly hidden), while all guests have their feet cut off. It is common tradition for the Emperors to offend guests like this.
Let's hope the long lasting conflict can now face calmer waters.
