(Year 235, Spring) Last night a traditional tribute to a newborn took place at Dambele in Simerinia, Empire of Snorthia. Nobody can tell for sure how old this tradition is, some say it was always there, which in this setting might mean nearly 200 years. The equestrian tribute takes place when one of the protected families gets an heir to their dynasty. In each of the original three kingdoms there were originally seven proteced families, and Head of highest ranked dynasty of each kingdom would join a nightly ride to fulfill the tribute in order to honor the newborn.
The riding event is never announced beforehand, it was intended as a secret event. The focus is on the newborn, not on crowds cheering along the way, and not on the three wise and highly ranked men. Over the decades a few protected families went extinct, meaning this won't take place as often as before, making it even more special to those involved. There were a similar nightly ride last year, and the year before.
The Emperor of Snorthia is a given contender.
HRM King Adekoya of Simerinia represents the old Simerinia kingdom, since long controled by the Emperor. Still, Simerinia is the only of those 3 old kingdoms that still have a royal family.
Darong dynasty is the 5th protected family of Simerinia. Because tonight's newborn is a Dambele resident, King Adekoya did not need to travel far.
Finally, the old kingdm of Yacothia no longer has a royal family, but is today lead by the High Priest of the Yacobian Faith.
High Priest Akyshi Gilmore is Head of this region's 1st proteced family, the Gilmore dynasty.
The little troup gathered west in Simerinia, then could be seen riding for hours, only with a few short breaks for the horses to drink and rest. Tempo was moderate, but they were assured they would arrive their goal before anyone would wake up.
Finally they were getting closer. Still no locals were aware of the parade. It's a silent tribute that is only meant to surprise the household of the newborn baby boy.
There, the residence of the Gubbs dynasty, 7th protected family of Yacothia.
The nightly journey was completed while the city was stil asleep. They made it just in time!
The next morning, when Head of dynasty, Laro Gubbs, left for work, he ran into a pile of gifts right there on the doorstep.
Laro's wife hails from the Ravenot dynasty with seat in Tomarang, and they had two daughters already, My-la and Meg-la. Only sons can inherite a dynasty, and baby Floro will be raised to do so. In the Empire of Snorthia no woman is allowed to give birth to more than one son, so there won't be any more children in this household. This family moved to Dambele some years ago, but is first generation raising children here.
He was of course aware of these tributes, but had not expected it to take place this shortly after the birth.
The Gubbs dynasty is among the more promising families of the empire.
Congratulations with the heir!
