Fame and Children

(Year 234, Summer) Recently there was made a report to explore how famous Mazaloom's residents actually are. A total of 22,2% of the population have a certain fame, but 81,3% of them are newcomers. So, is our community focusing too much on becoming famous? And why do most of us only know a handful names, when they are obviously so many?

Minister Anaya Jang (LEFT) is currently focusing on fame and venues.

The report was ordered by the Ministry of Culture & Entertainment as they are currently looking into how cultural venues are spread geographically. The idea seems to be that the more famous residents, the more larger venues we will need.

This might be a mistaken link though, as only nation wide fame is concidered, while many venues happen to be quite local. Only a few large veues, such as the Aarby Music Hall in San Sequoia, are known in all regions. The ministry has not expressed that they will suggest venues according to how fame is speread geographically, but on the other hand; would it not be a natural thing to initiate a new bigger venue in a region where the population is famous?

Minister Anaya Jang (LEFT) disagrees.

- Famous residents are more often found on stage than in the audience. If they performed only in their own region, they would probably not reach much national fame at all, which this is all about. The report only reflect nation wide fame. It is useful though, as we also see how today's Fame routine is folding out.

Routine? Is not fame simply about building fame through career and other activities?

- The exact number is 150 residents, but only a much smaller number is real famous. Most of those with fame are newcomers including numerous children, who will normally have a little bit of fame thanks to what family they were born into. Most children will not be affected much by this, and in many cases their fame will fade long before they become old enough to actually care. These are typically children inheriting the top notch «good will», socially and financially, based on older tax routines that gets less attention these days. Still, those families are well known within aristocracy and beyond. And then we have the children of the Monarch and the 5 dukes - by birth they are all considered being on the lowest level of fame. The fame of aristocracy is frozen while residing a peerage's main estate or any estate owned by their peerage trust, but as soon as those children move out their fame will start fading unless they take action. In addition, children and spouses of a global star will be seen as famous - lowest level. These children are interesting to the press because they might get a position including fame in the future - that's all.

So, how many famous children are there out there?

Boarding school pupil Ms Genevieva Ward (10) is famous because her mother is a global star.

- 23 (15,3% of those with any fame), according to the report. You would probably not recognize their names, but maybe you heard about their parents. Not even being Head of a House of aristocracy will give immediate fame unless you take action. Outside royal House and the dukedoms, spouses and children of barons and counts won't get any fame through position. Priests are not known nation wide, while the High Priest is.

So, if most residents in good positions hardly are seen as famous, who are?

- Mainly those having a certain success in showbiz. The top 3 levels of fame are actually reserved residents working on building their fame. They count for only 1,3% of the population. Below their level we find the highest fame level that might come with a position, like royals, dukedoms, our Prime Minister and a few more - they count for 2,8% of the total population. The 5 Ministers might appear often in the news, but are just considered  newcomers unless they really know their way with the press, of course.

Are there no discussion on whether children should be opted out of the fame label?

- No. The old routine stands pretty strong. Their fame is normally a result of their parents' position or activities, and we really can't stop the press from keeping an eye on the children, too. It would be up to the parents to shelter them. Media will normally avoid gossiping about children. We can't stop publicity when the parents think it is all good.

The conclusion of the report is not going public, but a few headlines can be shared. Of those with fame, the fame level is currently spread as follows:

Notable newcomers (lvl 1): 81,3%
Rising star (lvl 2): 12,7%
B-lister (lvl 3): 1,3%
Propper celebrity (lvl 4): 2,7%
Global star (lvl 5): 2,0%
