Welcome! :) On this blog you will find stories, how i play and videos created with The Sims 4, but also a few projects from older game versions can be found in the Archive. The old TS3 stories have their own blogs. Most long going stories have a main page with index of updates.

Check out Simmerville's Youtube channel!

I'm no longer on Tumblr! I refused to give all their 3rd parties unlimited access to my computer. Link still works, but no updates.

Touring House of Saxor - 1 Torendi Tower Penthouse

Duke of Meadows used to reside in their Meadows Palace in San Myshuno. Following the big fire they decided to move into Torendi Tower in Fashion District. Not as much outdoor space, but still a generous dwelling. Being a Duke these days doesn't require six horses and some farmland, anyway!

I rebuilt the penthouse trying to combine modernity with a feel of high noble residence. I'm happy with 1st floor, and not so much with 2nd floor, but I decided to leave any failures to the family living here. The place still lacks a few paintings, decor, carpets and so on, but they will be glad to add those details according to personal taste and historical heirlooms. So, here is a quick tour of the rebuilt penthouse!

1st floor is based around the Grand Hall, that can easily be adjusted for various occasions like wedding, dancing, banquets, etc. The head table far back is 2+3+2. Smaller rooms surround this main hall. One stair leads to the Grand Lounge upstairs that include a bar and a white grand piano. The other leads to the bedroom section.

The main entrance is from the corner back there. I did not adjust the elevator room - wanted to, but then realized it was better the old way. Needing to walk a bit gives the impression of a bigger place ;) The red carpet certainly makes it easy to find your way out, ha! On the wall you see a framed version of the House of Saxor's coat of arms. Their colors are green and brown, and the symbol is 2 crossing swords, a reference to the head of the house traditionally leading a Military career. Opposite the entrance you can hardly see the door to the servants' section including the kitchen.

Walking from the entrance, facing the garden. I skipped the red carpet from the arch, thinking that it looks more interesting when it's different. Not quite sure about that, though :)

This is "outside" the double stairs. Comfy seating perfect for a private talk - or watching TV. Somehow I think nobles don't watch TV, LOL, so I could never have given them a huge screen...

There are groups of old paintings around the house. Plan is to allow them to add more as they have their own portraits done. Unfortunately most of their old stuff got lost in that fire.

We are back in the Grand Hall. That big painting was luckily rescued from the fire, then got lost, but was recently discovered by the regional Historical Society. The Duke might donate the original to the Museum, and ask them to make a copy for him, but it's such a tough decision on behalf of all future generations. The man seen is Victor Saxor, the first Duke of Meadows. He was one of San Myshuno's founders and there's a load of historical stuff on him but hardly any other images except from one medieval portrait. Many of today's nobility descend from him. His urn is right there under the painting, and it is the real thing.

Turning left reveals one of my favorites - the many arches obviously leading to different views. There is a tiny library, and there is Cordenza's drawingroom. But first a stop by the fireplace...

The woman on the b/w portrait is late Duchess Cordenza, who died only 40 years old. It's 33 years ago and mourning traditions were broken when the Duke insisted on keeping her photos on display until he passes. He is still around though, retired since 11 years but going strong.

The young woman in a red dress is the current Duke Victus' sister Lady Victoria, who died as a  teenager.

The current Duke was crowned 11 years ago. Yes, my Dukes do have a crown, and the high nobility Barons have their coronets, because I have no King. Still, the coronation is a minor event with only a few guests for the ceremony and a few more for the following gala dinner. The crown is worn only at the ceremony. It's a small crown, and even smaller for the Barons, but with symbolic colors.

Well, see the room there in the background...?

This is the room that I initially called the «Ladies Room», before I realized that I should come up with a better name ;) It's now dedicated the females of the house, and all Duchess will get their portrait on the wall. So, «Cordenza's Drawingroom» might be it. I'll advise that Duchess Gloria could add a round floor rug, maybe next year...

This room also functions as a MMM room (Monday Morning Meeting). Most weeks starts with the central persons discussing the program of the following 6 days.

From the Ladies Room Cordenza's Drawingroom one can walk through the Library to find the Duke's office. It's obviously hard to stay away when you retired only 11 years ago... Ex-Duke Auphor is not supposed to work here, but perhaps he missed the view?

The Duke administrates most businesses and engagements outside their residence himself, while the live-in Butler (or Duchess) assists on some paperwork, but mostly administrates the household including other servants and services. The Duke and Duchess have fewer community engagements than Royals, so they gladly handle the paperwork on days with no other obligations.

This is the kitchen with the Butler's desk in the background. They don't always have a live-in Buttler, but when they do, s/he is in charge of the daily matters within the residence, such as repairing, cleaning, hire services, checking mail, preparing events and briefing the Cook - party or not. All matters are coordinated or reported with the Duke at the 3M. When special events are coming up also the Duchess will attend those meetings.

The kitchen stair leads up to the servants section with two small bedrooms and a tiny bathroom - nothing to see up there. But let's go upstairs anyway...

In another upstairs section we find the main bedrooms. This is the master bedroom. There is a spacious bathroom connected, as well as a small terrace.

This is also where the Duchess works, if needed. The Duke will stay updated on engagements and events, but a Duchess needs to look her best, plan both outfits and makeup, and even do some research before attending a meeting or community event. She write her short speeches herself, and the desk in the background is her office. She can also use the main office downstairs if she gets tired from staring into that wall.

Outside the bedrooms is the Grand Lounge with the bar area. Those two doors lead to the two bedrooms intended for children of the house. I'm not happy with them, so we'll not go there :)

Not happy with the wallpapers in the bar lounge, either, but I'm sure Duchess Gloria will come up with a better idea. The young woman over there by the chess table is daughter of the house, Lady Corva. Unfortunately she can not inherit this peerage, which is an old fashioned male thing only.

The lounge needs some more seating. I figure it's a wonderful place to relax with a glass of nectar while someone plays the grand piano.

I did not do much to the huge roof terrace yet, except adding the hot tub and an old canon (another reference to the Duke's career, although they no longer use this kind of weapon).

Below are the floor plan views. Simple but noble enough for my dukedom :)

If you walked with me this far, thanx for keeping up! :)

  1. It's so cool those nobility project. How did you do the coat of arms portraits ? You created your own custom content ? I can't wait to see how they will interact with the characters in your videos. I guess all those rich sims will try to marry into those ancient families to gain respectability !

    1. Hello! I love doing this project, although it seem to take way too much time away from me actually playing my game :) I made the coat of arms in photoshop, in fact I made similar for about 30 noble houses. I'll make a chart showing them all, to be posted within a week. And about the characters in videos, well - someone you already saw there might surprise you by being quite noble by heritage :) There will obviously be a bit more nobility talk there, too.

    2. Oh, I didn't reply properly... yes, I created custom content. Framed pictures are quite easy to do in Sims4Studio. I'll show all I created later on.
