(Year 229) Region 3 was created as early as in Year 2 and is commonly named Tredony, after the old Porto Tredony. The old town was an important cargo harbor ever since the Medieval era, benefiting from its deep waters perfect for large ships. They had one of the earliest institutes, and early on students realized that commerce earned more than industry. Tredony county was created in Year 4, but in the early period also the Merchant Prince was powerful. Tredony disapproved on King Baltazar II assigning them with a regional signature crop and flower, they argued they already did very well with their trades.
This region also covers Tartosa and a few small and less populated islands. Tredony town is still the administrative center of Region 3, but Tartosa near by is about to win the tourists over. Tartosa not only provides picturesque wedding venues. The royal family hails from Tartosa and the kingdom's current President, Laurent Pepperstone (LEFT), is from Tredony town. But also the fact that the region's highest nobility, the Count de Tredony, actually a title held by the royal house for 225 years, was always seated in Tartosa and their Castello Tredony has become a tourist attraction. The old building is located just a short walk from the village.
Porto Luminoso
In the old days Tartosa was even smaller, and all land was owned by the Mazaloom Royal Trust. The villagers made a living from fishing, and typically sold most of their harvest at the old town market in Tredony. Tartosians shortly discovered the beautiful art of nectar making, and for more than a century Tartosa has been widely known for its good nectars. They say grapes build a unique flavor in this area, and nobody can explain why. So why not just enjoy the lovely result - the nectar?

Mid picture (1) is Castello Tredony, Tartosa's oldest building. |
The oldest build of them all is Castello Tredony (1), home of the Count de Tredony.

Castello Tredony (1) is the home of the Count de Tredony. |
This is the craddle of the royal
House of Luxe-Hamper. The building is based on the original construction, but was totally renovated for the county's 100th anniversary. It was not until Year 110 that the Count got his own District Order and was included with the group of high nobility peerages. Currently Prince Jerome resides here with wife, Countess Bequeenie, and their 2 teen sons. Prince Jerome normally doesn't use his Count title, though, as the Prince title is ranked higher. It was recently announced that Prince Jerome has split from
House of Luxe-Hamper to found his own
House de Luminosa. His Fruity Mead produce is mainly for the house's own consume, but he is obliged to deliver a minimum to Region 3 Broker. The nectar is for public sale only in Oasis Springs and San Myshuno.
East of Castillo Tredony we find the charming yet modern Hotel Oceana (2). It opened 30 years ago, replacing a former lounge which also had a few rooms to rent. The new owner ditched the rustics in favor of commerce, and built a rather massive building compared to the tartosian standards. There is also a classy seafood restaurant. The hotel offers 14 rooms including a wedding suite, and the place with the awesome view is still a popular spot for weddings and conferences. Especially the Marchants Guild is known to throw their annual conference at Hotel Oceana.

Tartosa Promenade (3) is popular with both tourists and locals. |
On the beach, next to the village, is
Tartosa Promenade (3). It is very busy during tourist season, offering food and beverage as well as small shops aiming for tourists. The beach itself is popular, too.
Tartosa village itself is dated to about Year 50, only two years before the lighthouse was built. Most buildings were renovated, but the local law restricts most owners to preserve the old style. Gradually the village did modernize anyway, but it is still on Sim City Voyager's list of 50 spots to see before you greet Grim Reaper.
Piccola Luce (4) is another picturesque old house, secluded from the rest as it is located on the tiny Piccola island. It is private property of King Tarriot of Mazaloom, often rented by artists. Current renter is the Author
Victor Fabe Altham, aka Baron Victor de Aarby, son of Royal Chamber member Baron Floyd of Emp.
Finally,
Villa Vigna (5) is property of the Mazaloom Royal Trust, normally occupied by a central member of the royal family, but is currently empty. The main building is closed off, but in the nectar maker hut a full family of 4 resides, the Laurents. They make sure to produce enough Vino to meet the Region 3 Broker expectations. The Vino deed is owned by King Tarriot, but can only be used in Region 3. It has been rumored that King Tarriot's half sister
Amalia Ellice Luxe-Hamper Hoffstar will move into Villa Vigna following her YA birthday next year.
Terra Amorosa
Nectar export has become big industry in Tartosa. Well, big and big, there are not that many nectar making farms, but 5 of 19 nectar making deeds are on tartosian hands. Perhaps the exclusivity is what makes the nectar from this area so highly desired? Most of the makers are found in the inland hood, Terra Amorosa.

Mandrake Manor (6) and Tartosa Chapel (7) in front, Froux nectary (9) up by the waterfalls, and Chateau Buttercups (8) all to the right. |
Mandrake Manor (6) is almost as old as Castello Tredony. Year 3 the Tartosa barony was created, a peerage that the
House of Mandrake held ever since. In the past there was some rivalry between
House de Luxe-Hamper and
House of Mandrake, but these days the families are actually related as
Queen Venezia is a Mandrake. The house used to produce nectar for sale, but today they produce mainly for serving tourists at the experimental nectar tasting events they arrange in their own backyard.
East of Mandrake Manor we find the old Tartosa Chapel (7), originally a church serving the Jacoban faith, but nowadays mostly used for weddings. It is popular with nobility and celebrities, as it is a little more costly than Hotel Oceana. The outdoor restaurant, serving cheese and exclusive nectar, is open to all, connected to the small farmer's market in front of the chapel. This lot even offers one exclusive hut that can be rented by newly wed couples during their wedding or for their honeymoon.
North of the River Tarta is the small nectar farm of
House de Froux (9). Their history is long and detailed as their 1st two generations were kings of Mazaloom.
|
House de Froux (9) were Kings, but today they are Nectar makers with their own little shop. |
They lost it due to lack of male heirs, but was later awarded with the title Lady Sangiovese, recently changed to the gender neutral Mester Sangiovese. They grow grapes of spectacular quality, but lately they also started experimenting with various fruits. Their famous product is the Blackberry nectar, but they also produce good Grape nectar. They have a small home based store where they sell their nectars to tourists who are on their way down from the popular Tarta Waterfalls.
Across the lake we find Chateau Buttercups (8) (aka Via Romanza), a rather small but charming build with 2 towers, with products like Honey Grape nectar and Pink Lemonade, as well as random preserves.
|
Chateau Buttercups (8) is home of yet another family of Nectar makers. |
Besides delivering to Region 3 Broker, they sell directly to local restaurants, but they also sell nectar and preserves from a back yard table next to the trail (normally Mondays), and occasionally they can be found selling nectar at the small market in front of Tartosa Chapel (7). For a brief period they tried producing cheese, but with now room for multiple cows they gave it up.
House de Buttercups hails from Aarbyville (Region 6), and their past includes a pirate (Captain Long John Buttercups who was a close friend of Princess Cordelia) and a former politician in Crafthole (Region 4), who reached all the way to President of The People Chamber.
Well, this little historical tour ends here, but there will be more articles from this district later (especially when lot 2 and 7 are completed).
Amazing!!! I felt like I want to go there and visit all those great places you described!!! And the stories are awesome!!! :D
ReplyDeleteAwesome, Sally! My intention was exactly to increase tourism to Tartosa, LOL. Been building two more lots since the article was posted, including the Hotel Oceana, which I'm currently testing. The hotel requires a full a rticle on its own though, it got rather packed with content. Thanks for commenting!
