(Year 231, Summer) This week several members of our royal family are visiting Sulani (Sea kingdom), as guests to the wedding of HRH Crown Prince Longjav.
Mazaloom always had a good relation to Sea kingdom, but recently also Sea was criticized by HRM King Tarriot for their old fashioned look at women. However, opinions are not enough to stir up the balance between the two nations, and King Tarriot and Queen Venezia have been steadily topping the Mazaloom guest delegation for this wedding. And they did not go alone - both Crown Princess Emireza and Prince Cecil joined them.

HRH Crown Prince Longjav (34) and Princess Lia (35) of Sea. |
The Sea's royal family resides in Sulani, and while the ceremony would have certain modern elements, like the bride wearing a bright dress with a veil, the many old traditions of the area are essential. They still believe strongly in having the spirits' bless, definitely not less important for a royal wedding.
The wedding started at 3 AM - yes you got that right! Formal weddings take place at night, in order to have the newly wed couple meeting their first sunrise as part of the ceremony. The elements are important, such as nature, the spirits, the fire and of course the water. The bride normally carries no bouquet, as stealing from nature could be offending to the spirits. The floral decorations were massive, though.
The weeks leading up to their wedding,
Crown Prince Longjav and
Lia Hauata visited four locations in order to gain the island spirits' blessing. There is a saying that if they were blessed, their first child will be a boy, but well - even the Sulanian locals have moved a bit onward since those sayings were taken 100% seriously. These days those four locations simply represent a way to show respect.
The Taz volcano was one of the locations. The volcano is still seen as holy, although it's been a few decades since the locals performed cruel sacrifice rituals up here.
Another location they picked was the old Crypt.
It represents the Spirits, although it's not quite the same thing. The man on that picture is the last Chieftain ever ruling Sulani, that's several generations ago, as he was Lia's great-grandfather, Ohan Hoapili.

The huge arrangement included several podiums. |
The ceremonial rig was at the Sapphire Shores, actually owned by the Duke of Rossie's trust, which also owns a vacation house nearby. There were built numerous podiums, and the tallest was naturally reserved HRM King Salomar and HRH Queen Medaka.
|
Following the Sea tradition a wedding focuses on nature and light. |
Sea kingdom's royal family (House of Oceanus) is said to hail from merfolk. Their reign lasted several generations already.
King Salomar turns 50 this year, and he probably was hoping to meet the island spirits for his awaited advancement to
Tazal King, which involves having a golden jaw operated onto his chin, before this big celebration, but he was not that lucky - yet.

Parents of the groom, HRH Queen Medaka (63) and HRM King Salomar (70) of Sea. |
On a few released pictures we get a glimpse of the royal guests from Mazaloom.
|
Among the many guests we spot four members of the Mazaloom royal family. |
The redhead to the left is
Prince Cecil (16). This Fall he will move to Summerfield High in Windenburg, the same boarding school where his two elder siblings, the Crown Princess and Prince Bazillimus, are already students.

From Mazaloom: HRH Queen Venezia (55), HRM King Tarriot (63), HRH Crown Princess Emireza (20). |
Queen Venezia was wearing a simple pale yellow dress, with her favorite
Joséphine Pearl Necklace and the
Luxe-Hamper Brooch. King Tarriot seemed to enjoy the spectacular but peaceful ceremony, and
Crown Princess Emireza wore a printed dress and a nifty little hat with a feather. We have heard how the sand is often a challenge at beach events, high heels are normally appropriate, but not so easy to handle in the sand.

Nature and light is important, and of course water. |
Then the fire lanterns were lit, and the wedding got started. Both the ocean and the sky showed the couple respect, and even the parrots kept silent. We have no info on how long this ceremony lasted, or what made it different from the sort of wedding we are used to, but it sure seems like a very special moment to everyone present.

Old Sulanian traditions blending with modern vibes. |
Before the wedding there were expressed quite a few worries regarding
King Tarriot and
Emperor Orchor of Snorthia attending the same event. The two have a deep and serious conflict going, regarding how the empire show little respect to their women. Their females inherit nothing by law, and they rarely get any education. Even so,
the recent "Moon Liza" scandal goes even deeper, as the Emperor has stated that the entire empire was insulted by the employee of the King of Mazaloom. The delicate art conflict was not yet fully solved.
There were no pictures of King Tarriot and Emperor Orchor communicating, but at least our Queen attempted conversing with Emperess Lea of Snorthia.

HRH Queen Venezia of Mazaloom (55) and HIH Emperess Lea of Snorthia (60). |
The two prominent women were reported to have just a quick chat, according to sources. But at least they did not seem to try avoiding each other, liker their husbands did.
Finally, the only group photo we could get hold on:

Posing for a private photo (left to right): Keala Hoapili (93, bride's grandmother), Crown Princess Emireza of Mazaloom (20), Duchess Ribra Lynn of Rossie (67), and Duke Jarret of Rossie (61). |
The Duke and Duchess of Rossie have been to Sulani every year since their trust bought a vacation home here. The story does not reveal whether they are friends of King Salomar and Queen Medaka, but at least they know the bride's grandmother,
Keala Hoapili, who is daughter of the last and final Chieftain, and now is provided for by the royal house, where old Keala will serve as a live-in Servant.
The celebrations moved continued at the Chieftain's Villa, and hopefully a few official photos will be released later.
