(Year 232, Summer) At Desert Bloom, the community park at Verde in Oases Springs, we find a huge horse statue. This is far from random, as the old Verde was a center of equestrian masters and military support. In those early years Horses played a major role in this district, and the statue was erected to remind us on the history.
The tallest monument of Mazaloom kingdom is located at Verde in Oasis Springs. |
Verde barony was created as early as Year 5 by King Baltazar, and the first Baron was the king's Knight, Wilhelm von Donnersmalt. He was known as a warmonger, building up an impressive system in Oasis Springs, where horses were bred and trained for military purposes. To some extent, this activity also spread to Chestnut Ridge.
Baron Wilhelm's successors kept a strong focus on the equestrian bit, and all over Oasis Springs we find the story of old stables. Most of them were demolished long ago, but today we can still see some remainders that were integrated with the sales stands at Sandtrap Crafts Market at the Nookstone hood.
So, who donated the huge horse statue? And does it still have any meaning to the locals?
For unknown reasons, dogs pay deep respect to the Military Horse Statue. |
Every year on Military Tribute Day the statue is decorated with flowers, normally by someone from the House holding the Verde barony. One particular detail regarding the statue is that dogs seem to love it. They behave like if they are paying the deepest respect to the large thing, one should actually think they see the horse as a large dog statue. Pay notice the next time you walk by - chances to see minimum one dog guarding the statue is significant. Nobody could explain this - dogs never were very popular in Oasis Springs, and definitely not as common as horses.
Although the 1s Baron of Verde had 3 children, and one grandson even became King Wizar of Mazaloom, the old House von Donnersmalt went extinct long ago. Current Baron Auphor of Verde (91) is a descendant, but through a line marrying into House of Saxor. He broke out and founded House of Sax-Donnersmalt. On a side note, there exist a couple residents using the von Donnersmalt last name, but their line is slightly shady and Wilfred Ramperton von Donnersmalt (38) is not wealthy enough to run a House, anyway.
