Bowling Tournament *Winner*

(Year 232, Fall) It's been a while since the announcement of a new bowling tournament, «Mazaloom Super Bowler», and now it's time to make the list of contestants public. When Bill Loffertop founded the Mazaloom Bowling Club the plans for an annual contest was already sketched. Since then  the club did grow, and fact is that more persons than the tournament restriction of 8 did sign up for the club's very first contest.

Bill Loffertop leads Mazaloom Bowling Club. He is also a Politician with a seat at People Chamber.

So, the most of the tournament takes place during 2nd weekend of this Fall, then the bronze-final and the grand finale will be arranged the following weekend. It all takes place at the bowling venue in Gloomville's commercial area (basement of the gym). Eleven persons signed up, but only eight of those are admitted to the tournament. Because of the great interest, and the fact that there are already bowling arenas in several regions, the location might alternate in the future.

Half the contestants come from Copperdale. Here is Crafthole's Mayor, Roger Lockerbud.

The contest is basically for the club's Elite members, but because this is a first there was not set a strict Bowling skill level. We reach out to more than just our existing Elite members who already maxed their skill. People any age can join our club, but you must be Teen or older to compete.

- We want to introduce the bowling sport, our club, and this annual tournament. It is easier to reach out with fewer rules. Next year we expect that the restrictions might be useful to limit the list of contestants wanting to sign up.

Newcrest based teenager Melida Dipperwell was asked to pose her characteristic Dipperwell-ish nose!

The list of 8 will be those with the better score from a qualification round played while supervised by a board member of the bowling club. The score from one single 5 balls set will basically reflect your bowling skill, but also your mood and focus might affect the outcome. If well prepared the Elite members will pass, but there is a chance that a less skilled person can achieve a better score, or that an Elite member gets distracted or unlucky.

Well known from the political arena, but not quite making the cut for the tournament;
Leader of Regional Council, Mr Charloman C. Dougham, from Newcrest.

All 12 did their qualification game and the line-up of participators in the main games is now ready. If two contenders get the same score, their score from the previous rounds will be added, one level at the time, until there is a winner. If they still have the same score, their club rank will decide.

Name of winners will be boldThe info below will be updated during the arrangement, so please check back!

Main games

The tournament is arranged during the 2nd and 3rd weekend of Fall. In this round the two contenders will play one 5 frame game together. And here are the 8 contenders:

None but Elite members made it to top 8 in the qualification round, where everyone bowled a single 5 frame game. This indicates that unless you are well skilled there is not really a point in trying to get one of the 8 slots for the tournament.

1. Bill Loffertop (65), Copperdale (Reg 4)
2. Suzi Stench (42), Del Sol Valley (Reg 3) 150 p

3. Garvin Clump (46), Newcrest (Reg 12) 143 p
4. Polly Prescott (16), Copperdale (Reg 4)

5. Konrad Wooblershield (21), Windenburg (Reg 1)
6. Bianca Sterner (57), Copperdale (Reg 4) 148 p

7. Melida Dipperwell (22), Newcrest (Reg 12)
8. Roger Lockerbud (63), Copperdale (Reg 4) 146 p

The line-up is based on the sign-up game score, and because all 8 scored between 132 and 150 points, there is no clear favorite to win.

And, the audience did not have to wait long for the first surprise of the tournament.

Suzi "Sushi" Stench was a surprise!

Many had attended to get a glimpse of the famous Suzi Sushi, former pop star and recently married to a baron. She did surprisingly well in beating one of the favorites, club leader Bill Loffertop! He probably expected to hang in for a few more rounds, but he is now out of the contest. Suzi Sushi scored 150 points!

Next main game was Garvin Clump vs Polly Prescott.

Ms Polly Prescott from Copperdale got offended by a comment from the audience, and left the venue!

They both did decently well at the first frames of this game, but then suddenly young Ms Prescott walked off and left the building! Clump continued and was give the win, although he only scored 143 points. He shall meet Suzi Sushi in the 1st semi-finale.

In third game it was Wooblershield vs Sterner.

Wooblershield impressed with his gracious ballet-ish moves.

Young Konrad Wooblershield from Windenburg danced his way trough most of this, but Bianca Sterner has more experience, and she won with 148 points.

Final game was Dipperwell vs Lockerbud. The Priest's daughter Melida Dipperwell from Newcrest lost to veteran Roger Lockerbud from Copperdale, who scored 146 points. Lockerbud meets Sterner in the 2nd semi-finale.

This means 4 of the eight contestants are already out, and below you see those who move on to the semi-finales. Only one of them will not win a trophy in the end.

Semi-finales

After the main games we'll have the 2 semi-finales. The contenders are:

In this round the two contenders will play one 3 frame game together.

2. Suzi Stench (42), Del Sol Valley (Reg 3)
3. Garvin Clump (46), Newcrest (Reg 12)

Suzi Sushi has been a positive surprise in the tournament, but in this semi she totally failed. Regardless of result, ending 3rd or 4th is not that bad, Suzi added a certain glam to this contest, helping attracting both audience and press.

Former pop-star,  married to a Prince, and even with a baroness title, Suzi Sushi is not used to losing.

Garvin Clump, son of the legendary jazz singer Olivia Clump, won the set with 88 points. He is now ready for the grand finale, but we do not yet know who he will meet there, Sterner or Lockerbud.

In the last semi-final we'll see:

6. Bianca Sterner (57), Copperdale (Reg 4)
8. Roger Lockerbud (63), Copperdale (Reg 4)

They both reside in Copperdale, actually in the same house. Sterner got some property there when she divorced from Mortimer Goth a decade ago, and Lockerbud is renting one unit. Sterner is a Politician, just like her partner, Bill Loffertop (leader of the Bowling club), and Lockerbud, too. She runs a Jewellery crafter store on  ground floor.

Roger Lockerbud might gain some fame for his eye gaze posing...

It was not Bianca Sterner's best game, and Roger Lockerbud, Region 4 Mayor, won with 89 points.

This means Clump meets Lockerbud in he grand finale! But first, Suzi Sushi and Sterner will meet in the bronze finale.

Bronze finale

[updated!]

The 3rd weekend of Fall we'll see the bronze finale and the grand finale. In the future all might take place during just one weekend, we just wanted it to be more fun than stressful for this very first time, especially for those who need to play in all rounds.

Leading up to the finales, the Press got even more active.

In the Bronze finale the two contenders will play one 3 frame game together.

2. Suzi Stench (42), Del Sol Valley (Reg 3)
6. Bianca Sterner (57), Copperdale (Reg 4)

Suzi "Sushi" Stench is first. She drops the ball, then she gets disturbed by a blitz. Press gets directed away from the lane to keep distance.

Suzi "Sushi" Stench and Bianca Sterner - one of them had to lose...

Stench is allowed to redo her 2nd ball, but it does not help her final result a bit. She loses the bronze trophy to Sterner, who wins with a score of 90 points.

We are now taking a short break before we'll have the grand finale - please check back in a few moments!

Grand finale

[Updated!]

And we are back to find who wins this year's Mazaloom Super Bowler! In the Grand finale the two finalists will play one 10 frame game together. The two finalists are:

3. Garvin Clump (46), Newcrest (Reg 12)
8. Roger Lockerbud (63), Copperdale (Reg 4)

The audience, old and young, are enthusiastically awaiting the grand finale to begin!

Although kids can not be contestants, they are welcome to attend any bowling club activities. It is also a good way to find the future talented club members.

Now, the 10 frame game starts, and Clump and Lockerbud both seem to be well charged and up for the challenge.

There is a new level of nerve in the bowling venue! Garvin Clump does his very best!

Garvin Clump from Newcrest is well known as Olivia Clump's son and for being married to Actress Venessa Jeong, but he also have his own Musician career including a couple CDs and TV show appearances. Will bowling become a new way for him to build fame?

Roger Lockerbud concentrating on his next strike?

Roger Lockerbud from Copperdale is single and leads a rather successful political career (RIGHT party), being the Copperdale Councilor. He is also the current Region 4 Mayor with his office at Prescott Square, serving Copperdale, Moonwood Mill and Glimmerbrook (from next year). He is a member of the Mazaloom Council.

With 9 frames done Lockerbud is in the lead, but the gap is not huge!

Lockerbud comes 1st, but Clump does not seem to mind coming 2nd.

Roger Lockerbud won and is the first ever Mazaloom Super Bowler with 293 points!

Top 3 wins one trophy each, and they get club points which actually be of even higher value as it secures them good rank at future contests. Every year top 3 will build a club score where gold gives 3 points, silver 2 points, and bronze 1 point.

Conratulations and well done to everyone who participated! That's all for now!
