(Year 234, Fall) Breaking: In a fresh press release, Duke Victus of Meadows has confirmed that he will accept the Verde barony! Speculations had it that he considered leaving the peerage to his halfbrother in order to help his late father's House of Sax-Donnersmalt, but now he states that he is 1st in line to Verde barony and that he has no intention of breaking those old heritage rules.

Verde barony is part of the very complex heritage from late Baron Auphor of Verde. Victus Saxor (60) is his oldest son, but because old Auphor remarried, founded a new House and had 3 more children, there was big media interest in Duke Victus' final decision. The testament reading took place half a year ago.
Baroness Morgan of Verde (41), widow of the late Baron Auphor of Verde, was naturally hoping that her House could keep the barony, as Duke Victus will naturally still use his duke title and has no son who can inherit the Verde barony anyway. This was very important to the baroness not the least because of the higly valuable Verde Trust, that follows the peerage.

Now that Verde barony will be held by Duke Victus, he will also get access to the trust that is worth more than §2,000,000. He is already good for way more than §6,000,000 and will with this reach top 3 of the nation's wealhiest persons.

He assures Baroness Morgan and his 3 half siblings that he is not accepting the barony because of the money, but as the amount is quite enormous, it mght be hard for anyone to believe. The Duke already holds one minor barony aside of his dukedom, so he will not need Verde barony for anything but the value. Perhaps he hopes that Verde barony one day will be made gender neutral, allowing for his only child, Lady Corva, to inherit it?

Tradition is that a widowed baroness can keep her title until there is a new baroness using the title. Although the peerage is now switching Houses, it seems like the peerage will go dormant for quite a while, and Morgan can still be ididentified as Baroness of Verde, if she likes. Her 3 children will still be styled as Honorable. They are all still members of Aristocracy.
Although both parts now know in more detail who shall have what, the value transfers are still quite complex and it will all take a while before all changes are implemented. Final announcements will be made by Royal Court in Winter next year.
