(Year 234, Winter) Today there was another ceremonial event taking place at the Royal Palace of Mazaloom. It was time to hand the framed new crest emblems to the first nobles, this time all five dukedoms were present.
The event took place in Mazaloom Great Hall, which is the entrance area of the palace, regularly used for smaller exhibitions and concerts etc. The press was there, and a few curious commoners had arrived, to witness the whole thing.
One by one the five dukes stepped forward to get their new framing. The crest will identify their brand new dynasties, as Mazaloom had no such thing in the past. Someone might need to make a few adjustments to get the symbolic deco object up on the wall...
Heimlich dynasty, Windenburg
First family was the Heimlich, with seat in Windenburg, holding the Windenburg dukedom as their highest ranked peerage. To many's surprise, Duke Merlin (82) was not there, but instead his wife,
Duchess Mandy (48) receive the framed piece of crest in his place.
This dynasty has been assigned a Compass as their crest motif. Their old emblem is the Chrismas rose, which is the dukedom's emblem. Windenburg is surrounded by the ocean and former dukes lead Military careers with focus on maritime activity, so the compass might add well to their identity.

Duchess Mandy explained that the Duke had been sick lately, and medicals had advised him to rest. She will be registered as Heir to the new dynasty, and the way she announced it, they might be in a hurry. The couple has five children including two sets of twins, and the oldest just started school. The oldest, Lady Mirarda, has moved temporarilly to live with Mandy's elderly parents in Oasis Springs, while the other four lives in Windenburg.
Ross dynasty, Henford
House of Ross is seated in Henford-on-Bagley, and their old identity was based on the emblem of their Rossie dukedom - a Horse. However, King Tarriot, who lead the ceremony, explained that the new system does not offer any horse emblem, and a Seahorse was be the closest they got - a weird emblem for an inland dynasty. Instead, they picked a big red diamond for the Ross dynasty. In their history the red apple stands strong, and the ruby is their signature crystal. While apples are tasty, this sort of gem should not be consumed, though, King Tarriod added.
Duke Jarret of Rossie (64) received their framed emblem. It is not yet decideed whether his spouse, Duchess Ribra Lynn (70), will join the dynasty immediately. Due to old aristocracy rules, she is still needed for their son's House of Thebe, and might join his dynasty at least for a start. Their son, Baron Rainert of Myshuno, is now engaged, and the wedding will be this coming Summer. As soon as there is a first child, his mother will return to Ross dynasty.
The couple has a total of five sons and no daughters, and because Duke Jarret and King Tarriot are cousins, the Crown Princess might actually look to Rossie when searching a partner. 2nd cousins can marry, but some say it might be wiser looking elsewhere. Any way, the Ross dynasty will stay as one of our strongest institutions for years to come.
Saxor dynasty, Meadows
House of Saxor was next, and
Duke Victus of Meadows (60) was present to receive the framed emblem on behalf of his brand new dynasty. This House was always imortant to Mazaloom, not the least thanks to their ancestors' military contributions, but they are also very wealthy.
This House is the only one to get their old emblem transferred to the new format. The emblem for the Meadowws dukedom shows two crossing swords, and this is the exact motif of Saxor dynasty's new emblem.
 |
| Duke Victus of Meadows is the only nobility getting similar motif for both dukedom and dynasty. |
Duke Victus is mareried, but he and his elderly spouse, Duchess Gloria (78), have just one daughtwer. This is quite the scandal on these noble levels, because only sons can inherit a dukedom. However, Duke Victus is still young, and his daughter Lady Corva is currently in University. If she marries and have a son while Victus is still around, their dynasty will live on.
Croismare dynasty, San Sequoia
House de Croismare was funded on pirate activity, and now being assigned an Anchor emblem for their new dynasty might actually tell their story better than their old emblem, which was an old merchant's scales. Their ancestors did indeed deal with trades, though. Seated in San Sequoia of region Aarbyville, they ruled Mazaloom's southern area, with plenty of oceans for harbors and trades by ship.

Duke Vibrattore de Aarbyville (52) is married, but they have no children. However, his younger brother, Baron Vincent (47) resides near by the Aarby Hall, and recently had twins - two sons. This means the Croismare dynasty should be safe.
Cavalier dynasty, Brindleton
Final Duke to step forward was
Duke Charlopold de Cavalier (43), residing in Brindleton Bay with wife, Duchess Luna, and their two young children.
House de Cavalier's old crest emblem was a bone - probably symbolizing strength or structure. The new dynasty's crest emblem is a red rose, which is well suited as Chateau Cavalier holds one of the most spectacular gardens of the kingdom. Charlopold's late mother's interest in gardening still lives in the memory of the local commoners.
Then some mingling took place and the journalists got a chance to talk with the dukedom dynasty representatives.
King Tarriot took the oportunity to pose for pictures and to show of the new staircases:
Of course, journalists had noticed that no crest emblem had been displayed for the royal House of Luxe-Hamper. Will they not build a dynasty?
Yes, of course, the royal House very much will.
Luxe-Hamper dynasty, Del Sol Valley
HRM King Tarriot lead the group of journalists to his office, which is just a short walk from Mazaloom Great Hall. And on the wall they could witness the new Luxe-Hamper crest emblem for the very first time.
Blitz rain followed, and our monarch willingly posed. Then there was a little confusion as he obviously realized that the photographers focused on the framed emblem, rather than on him, so he stepped aside for the rest of the session.
The emblem of the royals never was straight forward, as they don't represent their House only, but even more the nation. In House of Luxe-Hamper's case, their signature color is red, while Mazaloom's flag is blue with details of purple and white. So, this House was identified by a yellow lily on a quarter split background of red and hermelin (pictured above, behind the desk). This will stay the national royal emblem, because right now it is only the new Luxe-Hamper dynasty that gets a new crest emblem - still a flower, though.
The new crests for all dynasties of active nobles of Mazaloom, comes on a dark red/burgundy color, which was lead from House o Luxe-Hamper's red signature color. Some might say that a blue crest background would mach our nation's flag better, but Sea kingdom was offered the blue background.
Mazaloomian dynasties where Head is not holding any peerage will not really be seen as nobility, but with the new sysem hey will enter the nobility career on the lowest levels, and therefore need a crest emblem. This lower ranked group will have their emblem on brown background. Burgundy and brown form a better unit than blue and brown, which made it easier to leave blue to the Sea kingdom. Empire of Snorthia's 3 kingdoms will use bright red, orange and green. They have only 3 or 4 dynasties per kingdom, but it was wise using different colors for future identification.
Well, the press event ended, and the job finding the better wall for the huge frames can now start. Counts will receive their emblems next week, and then barons the week after. Mesters and Houses with no peerage granting them nobility status, might need to wait until early Spring. All Houses are expected to register a dynasty, but the lower ranked group might worry less about building prestige etc.
