House of Saxor: Splitting up

(Region 12, Y227) House of Saxor reports major changes to their organisation.

Duke Victus (53) and Duchess Gloria (71) of Meadows. The Duke now Head of House of Saxor.

Auphor Saxor (86), ex-Duke of Meadows and now Baron of Verde, has changed last name from Saxor to Sax-Donnersmalt. He left the Meadows dukedom to his son, Victus Amador Saxor, years ago, but while a high nobility Peer has the privilege to step back at any time, this is not possible for Head of House. So, Auphor Saxor stayed Head of House of Saxor, despites leaving San Myshuno for Oasis Springs.

However, no House can hold multiple high nobility peerages, so Auphor Saxor had to either give up on the Verde barony, or start a new house by changing his last name. With a new last name he automatically lost his position as Head of House of saxor, as only a Saxor can be in those shoes. This means Duke Victus of Meadows is new Head of House of Saxor, while the elderly Auphor is Head of the new House of Sax-Donnersmalt. All formalities were approved by the Royal Chamber.

The new name is a nod to both House of Saxor and the expired House von Donnersmalt. Auphor's late mother was of the latter house.

Baron Auphor (86) and Baroness Morgan (34) with newborn Lord Dominic.

This solved just one problem, though. House of Sax-Donnersmalt might get a tough start as there is nobody to take over for Auphor. His only male child is still a baby, and just like for peerages, a successor to a House must be minimum 25 years old. There is a slightly older daughter, but if she becomes Head of House of Sax-Donnersmalt, she will need to hand out the high nobility barony to male member of the house - which is why most Houses have male successors. They simply benefit from having the Head of House position and the house's top Peerage on the same hands. Victus Saxor is member of the new house, but can not accept the Head of House position anyway, as he already have both a House and high nobility Peerage.
