Effects of the Year 235 Election

(Year 235, Spring) These days all 4 political parties arranges their annual party get togethers. That's where they discuss their future politics, and this year they obviously take a step back evaluating the election  results, as well. The election was won by the RIGHT party (9 People Chamber seats). LEFT party also won 9 seats, but RIGHT formed an alliance with MIDDLE party (1 seat) and Church of Similius (1 seat), and by this got 11 seats whic h is enough to win the Prime Minister an the Cabinet.

Anyways, the resilts of any election will impact the many regions, so let's take a look on how this recent election will actually hit residents of Mazaloom!

Let's start with the obvious: The winning party sets one national NAP as well as one national extra tax and tax relief. These three affects the entire nation, regardless of where you reside. The national NAP secures a wide focus on Tech support, which has been among the RIGT party's bigger goals since long. There is now a national tax relief of §1,000 per household when there is a teen studying at a private high school during the 5 years period. It might result in a stronger focus on private education in general, but the nation already has a good system for this, so the changes might not be very big.

However, there is also a new extra tax, hitting nation wide: If there is anyone in your household older than 50 (A or E), you will be fined additional §1,000. This can be explained with the want to have more residents actually having a job. It also reflects the RIGHT party's goal of gathering more elders in retirement homes, leaving their homes for younger families.

Regional differencies

The regional NAP is set by the party winning the region's Councilor. This time RIGHT party won 4 regions, namely Windenburg (districts Windenburg, Nordhaven), Crafthole (districts Ravenwood, Copperdale, Moonwood Mill, Glimmerbrook), Advorton (districts Ciudad Enamorada, Chestnut Ridge, Oasis Springs, StrangerVille) and Gloom (districts Gloomville, Newcrest, Brindleton Bay, Evergreen Harbor). They all got the NAP Juiced Community, meaning we should not only expect a broader focus on bars and nectars, but also community spots for socializing. Windenburg, Crafthole, Advorton and Gloom will also face additinal taxes of §1,000 when there is a cat or dog in the household, and tax relief of §1,000 for each crypt funeral.

LEFT party won 3 regional Councilors, they are Rossie (districts Britechester, Henford-on-Bagley incl. Hollow), Tredony (districts Del Sol Valley, Tredony, Tartosa), and San Myshuno (districts Myshuno, Meadows, Prome). In these regions the NAP Water conservation was added, as well as extra tax §1,000 when there is a teenager in the household, and tax relief of §1,000 when there is a child in the household. In these districts having more children might pay off, while the NAP will result in one day off he week with no water supplies.

MIDDLE party won just 1 region, Aarbyville (districts San Sequoia, Gibbi Point). Their regional NAP Self Suffience might encourage more farming, supported by the tax relief when growing minimum 20 edible plants. However, those having a swimming pool on their lot will be fined.

Local NAPs

The NAPs are valid for a total of 10 years, equalling to 2 elections. The local NAPs are no longer set, but those from the Year 230 election are still active. They are not many, but worth mentioning.

In Old town Windenburg the Free Love NAP was set by MIDDLE party. This is currently the only hood with this NAP.

In Gimmerbrook the Foodies Unite NAP is active as a local NAP, a result from Glimmerbrook coming from region Advorton due to the recent regional reform. This NAP is LEFT party's regional NAP, but not in region Crafthole, where Glimmerbrook belongs today.

At Aarby Wharf in San Sequoia the Rock Your Body and Mind NAP is still active, after being RIGHT party's local NAP back in Year 230. The hood traditionally focused on music and film, but it is expected that RIGHT party will also focus more on body and mind building activities.

The hood Nookstone in Oasis Springs is currently the only hood where the Clean Energy NAP is active. It was set locally by the RIGHT party back in Year 230.

In region Gloom the MIDDLE party was allowed to set two local NAPs back in Year 230. At Muggerdale in Gloomville the Upscaling alternative is active, and at Whiskerman's Wharf in Brindleton Bay the Eco-friendly appliances NAP is active. Also, at Crestville in Newcrest the Support the Performing Arts NAP is still active (RIGHT party Year 230).

Political bastions

The political landscape is changing slowly. In some regions old traditins are still standing srong, while others find that a new party has taken over. So where are the parties strongest?

RIGHT party was always strong in region Gloom, and they still are. In this region there is no sign of the LEFT party, and while MIDDLE party has 2 local NAPs, those will be active for another 5 years, only.

Also in region Crafthole the RIGHT party shows strength. LEFT's only impact there is one local NAP this will stay for 5 years, only.

LEFT party's bastion is no doubt in region Tredony. It's the 4th election where this party wins this region. LEFT is traditionally strong in region Rossie as well, where they had the reginal NAP 3 years out of 4.

MIDDLE party operates from Evergreen Harbor in region Gloom, but did not win that region. Instead, they won region Aarbyville, which is the only region where the party could asctivate their regional NAP. MIDDLE's current strengt is in a few local NAPs that will get deactivated come Year 240.

The new WORLD party won no region, and because they were new, they have no old local NAPs either. Their base is in Chestnut Ridge, Advorton, which is currently a RIGHT party area.

In several regions we find a change, like in Windenburg where LEFT was traditionall strong, but this time lost to RIGHT. In region San Myshuno LEFT has taken over from RIGHT, it might have been helped by the adjusted electional system. In region Aarbyville LEFT has lost to MIDLE, and in region Advorton LEFT lost to RIGHT. These canges might be temporary, though.

All NAPs have now been adjusted according to the result of the Year 235 election, with immediate effect. Extra taxes will not hit anyone until Tax Day, which is in 3 years. There's still time to move addresses...
