(Year 235, Spring) A delicate conflict seems to be building in the otherwise pristine House of Ross. And it looks to be caused by a two decades old interest conflict between House of Thebe and House of Ross. This might be the direct reason for Baron Rainert of Myshuno's very off-protocol behavior the other day - witnesses are still in shock!.
Members of aristocracy are deeply supporting Duchess Ribra Lynn - but everyone is still confused over her oldest son's reaction! To fully understand the conflict, which actually has the potential to grow much bigger unless handled in a civilized manner, we need to step back a few decades and look at past events involving both House of Thebe (Myshuno barony) and House of Ross (Rossie dukedom).
So, you might wonder what the son actually did? Well, first you'll need some of the backstory.
House of Ross, holding the Rossie dukedom, is - and has always been - one of the most successful Houses of the Mazaloom kingdom. They have a prestine reputation, their Peers were often Military Officers, and the late
Prince Consort Clempus hailed from this House. To top it all, the current duke had 5 kids all boys, and some think House of Ross might ally with the royal House of Luxe-Hamper again when Crown Princess Emireza (24) needs a spouse.
Duchess Ribra Lynn (71) was born into House of Thebe. They held the Myshuno barony ever since the Medieval age when the founder of the House was our first king - if only for one year. King Courtis was not a successful states man, but also House of Thebe did rather well. If it wasn't for the Verdemar branch switching to the name House of Thebia, the confusion would have been total. Anyway, when Ribra Lynn's father, Baron Robert of Myshuno, died nearly three decades ago, there existed only one possible heir - namely Lord Rainert Ross, aged 5, at the time only son of Ribra Lynn. House of Thebe had no other candidates. The dukedom had plenty of time to have more sons so secure the dukedom.

Duke Jarret and Duchess Ribra Lynn made a unique deal on behalf of little Rainert. He would accept the Myshuno barony aged 15, meaning he would at the same time decline getting the dukedom. Everyone understands that a dukedom ranks way higher than a barony, but at this time Myshuno barony was seen as of high nobility, meaning Rainert culd not claim both. For House of Ross it would mean a lot to hold two high nobility peerages on different hands.
Because the boy was still way too young to establish his own family, Duchess Ribra Lynn decided to join him. He changed his family name from Ross to Thebe, and his mother joined his House as her primary House. That's why she is currently not listed as a central member of House of Ross. Law requires any House to have minimum 2 members, and without her support there would not have been any House of Thebe today.
However - things have changed. As a result of a recent regional reform the Myshuno barony lost its so called District Order, and was degraded to an ordinary barony with no high nobility rights. Today
Baron Rainert of Myshuno (33) probably feels tricked into something worth a lot less than the dukedom he was told to hand over to his brother, Robert Ross (24). No wonder a young man can get frustrated by less.
So, the event shocking everyone? Well, Rainert visited his folks at Rossie Palace in Henford, there he mocked his own mother, declearing Ribra Lynn to now be an Outcast from House of Thebe! Did he not yet understand that what his mother did was to res cue an historical House and its high nobility peerage? Without her he has no house at all! And what happened t his good manners?

| A bit frustrated, are we? |
Well, Outcasts are members, too, but let's hope he will pull his mother back in with a full membership shortly!
The conflict might escale, though. Duke Jarret, father to those 5 men, is only 65 and won't kick the bucket anytime soon. But when that day comes, Rainert will still be the first name on the list that the Royal Chamber turns to in order to find the next Duke of Rossie. Will Rainert keep the promise he gave his parents when he was 15? Did they raise the next son, Robert, to become the next Duke of Rossie to no avail? If Rainert claims what he was born to have, his brother Robert won't get any peerage at all.
Thankfully, there are also some good news in he line-up. They plan a wedding this Summer! Ms Valeria Phlum (32) is engaged to Baron Rainert, meaning his mother, who turned elderly last year, can finally join her dear husband as a central member of his House of Ross.
With this young man, though, we have a feeling that just about anything might happen...
