(Magnolia Promenade, year 225) In previous post Angela Pleasant gave you a tour of the Hotel Roadstead, located at Magnolia Promenade. The exterior is hardly changed, but the indoor is all new. The lot is available on the gallery (by Simmerville). At the northern end of the large building there is a store that the hotel owner allows another business to rent.
Since Year 194 this store was home to Jespers Jewelry Broker, run by the Jespers family for 30 years. This is not an ordinary jewelry shop, though.
Jespers Jewelry Broker's main business is exclusive and valuable jewelry, often with a long back story. We are talking tiaras worn by royals, matching sets with big diamonds and an impressive number of gems. Their target group is of course nobility. Sometimes a Duke wants to buy a costly shiny gift for his Duchess, or a Baron might need a gift for his soon to be married Baroness. Ladies growing up might be gifted an item on their YA birthday, too.
This store also buys jewelry that the top society no longer use, or perhaps the 2nd wife has a totally different taste when it comes to necklaces and diadems. Then Jespers Jewelry Broker will help finding new owners, or simply buying the item and try to sell it later on, or even reconstruct it for the modern era.
The store was founded by Erica Jespers, once a commoner but now
Erica J. Rab-Saxor, Lady of Prome as she married to Vintec Rab-Saxor, Lord of Prome. When you walk into the store, you immediately understand this lady's dedication. She loves every item in her store, and is genuinely interested in finding your next favorite. She is well skilled on handiness and creativity, and she has a good eye for your glam. Of course she also makes business, but she will never sell you something that you don't suit well.
If you are of noble rank, you can order a meeting in the backroom. The room is not open to regular customers, so those meetings will normally take place in the evening.
In the backroom, or the showroom that she prefers to call it, you will get seated in one of the modern yellow visitor chairs, comfy enough for the next hour or more, while Erica shows you some of the fantastic jewelry that she thinks you ought to consider. She normally can tell the item's story, and some times you will realize that the price tag also reflects previous ownership. The 18 stones necklace once carried by Queen Octavia Marie of SimNation might cost more than a similar brand new 36 stones necklace.
In the backroom there is also a small dressing room. When ordering the meeting, Erica will remind you to bring a couple formal outfits so that you can see how their colors and fabric structures will affect the shine of the gems. It's all about light and colors.
You find the store at the end of the hotel building, just around the corner facing the Council House. Not everything on offer did once decorate a Queen.
Disclaimer: If you download this lot, some of the content shown on these pictures will not be included, but it shouldn't be that hard filling the store with content. On my Community Pages there is a full section dedicated the jewelries of all my played nobility houses (with download links), AND there is also a page listing some of what is currently on offer at Jespers Jewelry Broker.
I noticed your Jesper Jewelry Broker page on the registry just recently! I saw you have a Museum with collections too which is a very nice touch.
ReplyDeleteThanks! When I "discovered" the history of the more valuable items, and because the royal family was thrown by the revolution long ago, I found it logical that a museum got hold of some of those oldest items. Besides, since I play no royals, those items looked a bit over the top for a duchess :) There was a new royal family later on, but they probably had no rights to those museum items anyway.
