Welcome! :) On this blog you will find stories, how i play and videos created with The Sims 4, but also a few projects from older game versions can be found in the Archive. The old TS3 stories have their own blogs. Most long going stories have a main page with index of updates.

Check out Simmerville's Youtube channel!

I'm no longer on Tumblr! I refused to give all their 3rd parties unlimited access to my computer. Link still works, but no updates.

Welcome to Hotel Roadstead

(Magnolia Promenade, year 225) I actually have several hotels in my region, some are private lodging (roommates) but Hotel Roadstead at Magnolia Promenade is as close to the real thing that I can get. You can download it from the gallery, info below. I never quite got it how a retail store could have such a splendid location - it's the nicest view in all Magnolia Promenade! This community lot is now categorized as Restaurant. It's not fully functional as such, but at least it attracts visitors making it easier to imagine there are guests at the hotel.

You probably recognize the Receptionist! It's Angela Pleasant. When her uncle, Oliver Pleasant, bought the hotel and offered her a job, she paused her ongoing University studies and moved to San Myshuno (in my region Magnolia Promenade is a hood within SM, between the northern part of the city and Gloomville (aka Willow Creek)). If you've got a few minutes, Angela will now give you a tour!

Angela works here as in an active career. After this article was posted, the restaurant Host podium was integrated with the reception desk, making the NPC Host appear as the Receptionist. It's cooler when the visitors stands around the reception. So, it turned out Angela works here as an assistant. She gets paid thanks to money cheat. The job is mixed, as she handles lots of tasks aside of helping in the reception. She also keep an eye on all functions of the hotel, including doing some tidying in rooms, corridors and the basement gym, as needed.

If you download this lot, I assume all CC will be replaced by default items. Therefore, the place is not fully decorated. I figured it would be better doing that after this tour, as I use lots of CC. Just mentioning that aroundthesims4.com has a hotel set including the key shelves (pictured above) and luggage trolley (below).

While at the Reception desk, Angela mostly greet visitors while planning her day. The board often suggests changes that they want the Receptionist's opinion on, and Angela helps with suggestions. The hotel is rather old and worn, and the first ting Angela suggested was the bold wallpapers on some walls (cc, you might see something else...).

Behind the reception desk there are 2 toilets for guests, and the entrance to the employees' restroom.

Stairs lead up to the lounge and the 7 rooms. Notice there is also a staircase leading to the basement just to the right of the main stairs.

The dining area is set up as a restaurant, but I have not tested it as a guest yet. The point is not to have a successful restaurant, but a busy hotel. And - I think the restaurant functionality might still be bugged a bit, so I'm not stressing this right now.

So, this area is basically for the hotel guests, but others can pay to get access. Nothing on these tables is edible, but as it's cc you probably won't get any of it. You probably have some food-ish items to add, use the buffet table or you can keep just one table with fruit and tea. There is also a coffee machine.

Angela checks that all looks fine. And she also looks into the kitchen, but never disturbs the Cook unless it's important. He is busy with the Waiters.

Instead she takes a look into the dining area.

This room was intended for weddings, but it turned out a bit smaller than I planned. It should be easy to adjust this though, besides, most of my weddings are not that big anyway. Re-arranging the tables might do.

Angela notices the feared food critic, Myra Gupta, entering. Oh... should she warn the Waiters?

Most of the current Waiters are elders. Angela thinks that might be a problem, but on the other hand, that awful Critic is an elder, too... perhaps she has retired, even?

Time for a break!

She relaxes in the employees' restroom, located between the kitchen and hotel reception. After eating some food from the kitchen, she took a few minutes knitting.

After a quick stop in the reception, Angela checks out the basement facilities.

I hardly put anything in there yet, just enough to call it a service. Guests will use either dressing room (male/female) to access the mini gym and spa. Active guest will need to hire the masseur - which kind of makes sense although it will be a bit costly.

Two guests are in the gym, but they don't seem to use the equipment. Hat and high heals would be no good in here... Everything looks clean.

And so does the spa corner. Angela has been thinking that she might have enough time to offer some hand massage on quiet days, or perhaps guests can reserve an hour in advance. But she has not yet brought this new idea to the Board.

She returns to the Reception, spends 30 minutes helping an elderly couple finding their taxi. Welcoming a new guest, and answering several phone calls. Then it's time to continue our tour - upstairs.

Hotel Roadstead has 4 double rooms, 2 single rooms and 1 bigger double room intended for honeymooners (end of corridor). There is a narrow terrace (door left of knitting woman). Angela checks the corridor, especially the two stations with hampers and shelves for collected stuff that maybe can get recycled. She never walks into rooms unless there is a special issue.

In the opposite end of this floor is the lounge, very close to the staircase. There is a bar, dancing floor and a DJ booth. I realize that restaurant guests get seated up here (too), while the kitchen is on ground floor. Might be why I hardly saw any guests actually eating food.

Outside the Lounge there is a narrow terrace with a great view. And even more tables that the Waiters must serve...

The steamboat is right down there, and the hotel definitely has a superb location. No wonder many guests are returning.

Well, that's all for now! In addition there is a Jewelry store (Jespers Jewelry Broker) as part of the hotel build, but with separate entrance. Because Angela is not involved with that business, I'll rather show you those additional pictures in a later post :)

I'm trying to upload this lot to the gallery. I'm not familiar with that feature, but I assume it's now available. No idea how to add tags, so just search for title "Hotel Roadstead". Or by Simmerville - I don't have much on there so shouldn't be hard to find...
