Gloomville Diaries - Gen 1 - Ch 5: The tough everyday

Last night Ochana followed Aileen Gleeson to the magical place called Flock Hideaway, to drink to Happiness. This morning it feels like it all was a dream.

Ochana was excited when she thought of the wonderful place Flock Hideaway, but could it be for real? Did last night actually happen, or was she about to become as insane as the weird Aileen Gleeson?

She checked her bag, and was surprised to find the 5 bottles of colourful poison! So it happened, she had been to Flock Hideaway, and she even brought something back! Now, she had to get the mission clear, what was she actually supposed to do?

Okay, so someone had obviously suffered injustice here in Gloomville long ago. She was not sure if that someone was a man named Flock, but it could be. She had no idea where to start, so in a way she was glad there would be 5 more generations to help! She would just need to get it all started, and find enough information to fill a book, her investigation diary. The obvious would be to trace that Flock person, but could she visit Flock Hideaway alone?

She realized she would not need to hurry, because it would take her minimum 30 years to pass on the mission to a heir. 30 years seemed like a very long time. Meanwhile she would need to perform certain tasks according to the other 5 poisons, in a set order. Flirt, Focus, Energy, Inspiration and Confidence, was it so?

She found the painting she got from the Sims by Numbers Show. One of the contestants, Toby Twoller, had suggested that each of them could pick one of his paintings, and the show management had approved. They also got to keep one of the dolls they dug up during the 20 days in this house. She placed both items in the kitchen for now - that's where she spent most of her time at home.

- How funny, last night I traveled through a tree, and there it is, a tree painting! "Tree of Love" suites my situation perfectly, it even shows the pink poison as hearts!

On a good day even that doll could symbolize a tree. But of course it wasn't. Ochana had no idea that the doll had features beyond being pink and decorative.

- So, I guess my next move will be to get married? How spooky is that?

Ochana is a Noncommittal person seeking her soul mate, meaning she hesitated tying the knot, but if a guy feels like the only one it might not be too bad. And did she really have a choice?

She felt split between the mission and her tough everyday. She could not find time for both collecting values to sell, cleaning the dead garden AND finding her soulmate!

So, she started with paying the remaining bills, just to make sure she would not forget them.

A little later she intended to clean up some more in the garden. Then she saw Kale Baxter walking by, and she called for him.

Kale is a very flirty guy, they had a romance way back, and Ochana really liked him. Somehow she felt they were too different, and she always felt unfit next to him. Sometimes their conversation floated so well that she forgot everything about her own physics.

- Hello, Ochana! Wazzup?

- Hi, Kale! I was just thinking that we had not talked in a long time, and the next minute you walk by! How are you?
- Oh, I'm quite busy these days, that's why I didn't contact you...

- I wouldn't mind us dating again some time later, Ochana, meanwhile you could get out a bit more, to the Gym, perhaps?

And that comment sealed it for Ochana, Kale was not her soulmate! He was just another immature guy flirting around.

So she worked a little in the garden, and felt a depression coming along. She took a walk for harvesting and collecting, AND exercising, but didn't find much. Then she ate some cookies and locked herself into the FUN room, ironically enough, to read.

She was real bored, and except from those boring novels, there was no way she could have fun at home. She definitely had to make more money, she could not travel to the gym every day to shower, and she could not stand the thought of reading a novel every time she was bored... that would easily become too - boring.

Still feeling a bit blue, Ochana got a surprise visitor. She had already bought a side table for the fish Aquatore, allowing her to prepare garden salad on the counter.

The guest was Ona Rosewood, wearing nothing but her sleepwear! Ona could not have been sleepwalking, because she had settled in Oasis Spring - that's about 2 hours away by car.

- It's good to see you again, Ochana! It's been a while, I settled in a hood called Springescape at Oasis Springs. You should visit us sometimes, I married Josue Egan, you met him at some parties during the show.

Ona told that it was actually Josue who married her, they are now both using the Rosewood name, mostly because they live at Josue's older brother Carlos' house, and he will be there to bring on the Egan name.
- If he can ever find a woman, Ona continued.
- Oh, that's interesting, Ochana lied. - Why don't you have something to eat? I'm not at Fabian Rumple's cooking standards, but at least the ingredients are fresh.
- No thanks, I'm on a diet!

Ochana and Ona used to be roommates during the show. They spoke on the phone a few times, but did not stay in touch like Ochana would hope. Maybe that could change now.

- Did you find yourself a man yet, Ochana? I remember you brought some nice athlete to the nightclub party.

- If not, you should meet Carlos Egan, he is a very nice man, a bit of a tech freak, but not more than you can handle.

Ochana felt even more depressed now. Not only had Ona already married while Ochana didn't even have a boyfriend, but Ona even was strong enough to refuse eating salad in order to stay loyal to her planned diet. Hm, since when could you not eat salad while on a diet?

- I'm seeing a few guys, Ochana said. - It's nothing serious, but it's somehow tough to choose the one.
- So, maybe none of them is the right one, Ona replied.

- You've got two options, my friend! Either you go out there to just grab one of them.
- Or?
- Or, you come to Oasis Springs to meet Carlos! You see, if he moves in with you here at Willow Field, he will probably leave his house at Springescape to Josue and me!

Ochana knew that Ona was right, so after the visitor left, she decided to go more out, starting tonight.

She went on her second hunt for today, making just enough money to buy the cheapest shower. There was no point in going to a bar without feeling fresh.

She had a quick nap and went to meet locals at Muggerdale Fair. Ochana tried not thinking of the old tree at end of the street, and because the place was rather packed, she managed to enjoy the night like she hoped for.

Oh, look who were there!

The shower stalker Chad Pickens was ordering from the bar! And at the table was Kale Baxter flirting the night away with some slim woman.

And that's not all, because even Bob Maynard was there! The one she talked to while exercising at the Gym. He looked much better wearing his everyday clothes.

They had a quick talk in the florist shed at the fair. Muggerdale Fair is a very old market place and some of the old market booths are still in use offering various stuff.

Having all of them within reach at the same time was both good and troublesome. It got even more troublesome when Ochana noticed that Chad Pickens had joined Kale Baxter's table! Ochana knew she would need to choose one of them or Bob Maynard over at the florist booth. Or maybe the guy at the other table over there?

It all got sorted out without Ochana's help. Kale and his new skinny woman left, and Ochana sat down to talk with Chad, the shower stalker.

She had no money, so she didn't order anything from the bar, and neither did anyone else buy her a drink. So probably her jokes were not all that good...

Ochana knew that the sooner she could find herself a man, soulmate or not, the sooner she could pass on the mission to a heir. The next poison would be the Flirty poison. It said in the directions that she should drink it to "date a spouse", but did it really matter if she married before or after drinking it? It was probably meant to help producing a heir, and being married first sounded quite old fashioned. Ochana didn't know for sure, but no matter what, at this time she didn't even go steady! It was high time to do something about just that!

Hm, the man back there seemed fairly interested, no?
